Role Description We're hiring a Principal Solution Software Engineer to bridge product vision and engineering delivery on a platform built to scale across medical specialties. HCEsquared® is a PE-backed healthcare education platform — currently focused on dermatology — that connects pharmaceutical sponsors to verified clinical outcomes and powers AI-driven content at scale. Our engineering teams, internal and contracted, need requirements translated into precise technical specifications before code is written. That translation is your job. You will own the space between the whiteboard and the pull request: turning product requirements into technical designs, integrations into working systems, and ambiguous problems into solutions that ship. You catch design flaws before they become production incidents and make sure engineering always has what it needs to build with confidence. We ship through AI-assisted development — person-agent pairs using tools like Claude Code. You'll be fluent in that model and help set the standard for how it's used. Accountability - Solutions meet documented requirements with zero critical post-deployment defects from design or requirements gaps. - All platform integrations operational, documented, and maintainable. - Specifications complete and feasibility assessed before any sprint commitment. - Documentation, integration maps, and runbooks current at all times. - Engineering teams always have what they need to build with confidence. - Contribute to a reliable, scalable, integrated platform serving HCPs and pharmaceutical sponsors. Responsibilities - Translate requirements into technical specifications. Partner with product, design, and commercial stakeholders to define the technical approach, assess feasibility, and document specs engineering can execute without ambiguity. - Design integration architectures for new platform capabilities and third-party systems — CRM, event management, marketing automation, CMS, LMS, and data platforms. Ensure every design fits the broader platform, AWS environment, and Snowflake data strategy, and extends across new specialty markets. - Own assigned solutions from design through production. Coordinate engineering teams, vendors, and stakeholders, and enforce a definition of done that covers code review, testing, analytics instrumentation, and documentation. - Lead technical design review. No significant feature or integration enters engineering without a validated prototype and reviewed specification. - Own third-party tool and API integrations across the platform — evaluate, define requirements, and keep them documented and maintainable. - Own the technical documentation layer: architecture diagrams, integration maps, API specs, and operational runbooks. - Provide build-vs-buy assessments for new tools and platform decisions, with evidence-based recommendations to the CTDO. Qualifications - Demonstrated leadership essentials as described above. - 4-year degree from an accredited academic institution. - 7+ years in solution engineering, technical product management, software architecture, or a senior IC engineering role. - Proven ability to write precise technical specifications engineering can execute without architectural ambiguity — this is core to the role. - Strong experience integrating third-party systems via REST APIs, webhooks, OAuth 2.0, and SAML 2.0 across a modern SaaS stack. - Web application architecture fluency at the level of a senior technical reviewer — ideally Next.js or React with AWS-hosted backend services. - Integration and architecture experience with headless Next.js, CMS, LMS, CRM, marketing automation, and event management platforms — not just as a user. - Strong QA, testing, and documentation discipline — runbooks, integration maps, and architecture diagrams are default deliverables. - Comfort working in an AI-assisted development environment (GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or equivalent) is expected. - Healthcare or regulated industry experience preferred; familiarity with HCP platforms, pharma compliance, or medical education tech is a differentiator. Benefits - Fully remote work environment with a flexible time off policy. - Dedicated professional development support, including reimbursement for approved learning and development activities. - Comprehensive wellness benefits, including medical, vision, and dental coverage, with a significant portion of premiums subsidized for employees and eligible dependents, as well as access to HSA, FSA, and Dependent Care FSA plans. - Employer-paid life insurance, short-term disability, and long-term disability coverage. - 401(k) retirement plan with company matching. - Cell phone reimbursement for business use. - Home office stipend to support a productive remote setup.
