Role Description The Vice President (VP), Non-QM Underwriting manages the day-to-day operations of the Non-QM Underwriting team in accordance with established policies, procedures, and appropriate guidelines. This role is responsible for working directly with the VP, Underwriting to implement KPIs and workflows to ensure the Underwriting team is operating effectively and efficiently. - Responsible for day-to-day Underwriting team oversight, including loan assignment for staff for prompt underwriting decisions. - Assist Underwriters with scenario escalations, prioritized rushes, conditions, and newly submitted loans to adhere to department turntimes. - Ensure training materials align with current lending regulations, investor guidelines, and company policies. - Monitor underwriting quality, identify areas for improvement, and create targeted learning plans. - Partner with leadership to establish performance benchmarks and training effectiveness metrics. - Provide coaching, mentoring, and ongoing support to underwriters and support staff. - Maintain production goals and standards in accordance with established KPIs and production metrics. - Supports the organization’s goals and values, gives, and welcomes feedback and contributes to building a positive team spirit. - Stays updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to mortgage underwriting. Qualifications - 7+ years of mortgage underwriting experience, with strong knowledge of FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, and USDA guidelines. - 3+ years of supervisory or management experience in mortgage underwriting or training. - In-depth knowledge of mortgage underwriting guidelines, investor requirements, and regulatory compliance. - Proven ability to interpret and apply federal, state, and investor regulations. - Proven experience driving departmental improvements, managing risk, and leading high-performing teams. - Leadership and coaching skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff. Role Description The Sr. Quality Control (QC) Analyst is responsible for evaluating loan quality throughout the mortgage loan process across all channels and product types. This role performs detailed pre- and post-closing loan reviews to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, as well as investor, insurer, and agency requirements. - Conduct advanced pre- and post-closing quality control reviews for conventional, government, non-QM, and business-purpose loan products, with emphasis on complex underwriting transactions. - Independently review and analyze loan files, including applications, credit reports, underwriting decisions, income and asset documentation, disclosures, appraisals, title policies, and related documentation. - Verify income calculations, loan-to-value (LTV), and debt-to-income (DTI) ratios. - Analyze QA/QC data and quality metrics to identify trends, defects, and risk areas. - Select, manage, and execute targeted QA/QC audit selections. - Manage Internal Watch List and Exclusionary Lists. - Maintain and manage all audit documentation, including checklists, scorecards, trackers, and reports. - Prepare and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly QA/QC reports to senior management. - Select loan files for QA/QC vendor review, submit files to vendors, and monitor performance and turnaround times. - Perform QA/QC reviews of third-party vendor work and calibrate findings and feedback. - Review third-party vendor audit reports, reconcile discrepancies, and implement corrective action plans. - Oversight of Pre-Doc QC Process, Checklists, Calibration, Training, Staff, and Data integrity. - Perform early payment default audits, component testing, servicing QC, special investigations, and high-risk or red-flag audits as assigned. - Ensure production compliance with company policies, agency requirements, TRID, state and federal regulations, and insurer/guarantor guidelines. - Identify potential eligibility concerns or red flags and escalate suspected misrepresentation to Fraud Management. - Provide training and ongoing support to QA, QC, and operations staff. - Perform administrative and database management duties as needed. - Maintain subject matter expertise in mortgage regulations, agency guidelines, and loan program requirements. - Complete additional responsibilities as assigned. Role Description The Senior Non-QM Underwriter is responsible for reviewing and evaluating complex residential mortgage loan applications that fall outside of Non-Qualified Mortgage (NQM) standards. This role requires advanced underwriting expertise to assess layered risk, analyze alternative income documentation, and make sound credit decisions in accordance with investor guidelines and company policies. The ideal candidate thrives in a flexible lending environment and demonstrates strong judgment, accuracy, and efficiency. - Underwrite complex transactions to ensure the loan meets established underwriting guidelines for Full & Alt doc programs: 1099, bank statement, DSCR, asset utilization, P&L, etc. - Perform detailed analysis of borrower credit, income, assets, and collateral to determine overall risk and loan eligibility. - Apply investor guidelines and internal overlays to make sound, well-documented underwriting decisions. - Evaluate loan-to-value ratios, debt-to-income ratios, and other financial indicators to make informed decisions. - Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify potential issues or red flags. - Issue loan decisions to our business partners in a clear and concise manner. - Provide exceptional customer service to both our internal and external customers, including but not limited to answering loan specific questions on agency programs, reviewing program requirements within established SLAs, and ensuring collaboration with loan officers, processors, and other stakeholders to resolve issues and ensure complete loan files. - Stay current on NQM regulations, investor updates, and industry best practices. - Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to mortgage underwriting.
