Role Description We are seeking a detail-oriented, analytical Substation Construction Estimator / Quantity Surveyor to join our team. This role is ideal for a construction professional who excels at interpreting engineering plans, developing accurate cost estimates, and supporting construction planning and execution through reliable quantity takeoffs and cost data. - Review and interpret engineering plans, drawings, and specifications with a high level of accuracy. - Prepare detailed construction cost estimates based on engineering drawings and specifications. - Perform and document detailed quantity takeoffs for civil works, building construction, and high- and low-voltage electrical and mechanical installations. - Evaluate subcontractor bids, pricing, and change requests for accuracy and completeness. - Maintain, update, and contribute to the company’s construction cost database. - Develop unit costs using industry-standard labor, equipment, and material pricing. - Provide budget-level and detailed estimates for electrical substation projects. - Utilize cost estimates to support construction scheduling and project planning efforts. - Ensure estimates and related documentation comply with applicable internal procedures, external regulations, and company guidelines. - Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and construction teams to clarify scope, resolve discrepancies, and support project execution. - Communicate estimate assumptions, risks, and findings clearly to internal stakeholders. Qualifications - Strong understanding of industry labor, equipment, and material cost standards. - Experience performing quantity takeoffs and preparing construction cost estimates across multiple disciplines. - Excellent documentation, organizational, and communication skills. - Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. We’re excited to add a Project Manager who will play a key role in supporting engineering and capital projects for major clients. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives on building strong relationships, keeping complex projects organized, and ensuring work is delivered on time, on budget, and with exceptional client satisfaction. In this role, you’ll lead projects from kickoff through closeout, acting as the primary connection between engineering teams, business partners, and vendors. You’ll guide project scope, schedules, budgets, procurement, documentation, and communication to ensure every detail moves smoothly and efficiently. This position offers the flexibility of remote work, with occasional on-site visits to foster collaboration and support project needs. Responsibilities - Lead and manage the full project lifecycle for engineering and capital projects. - Develop scopes of work, project plans, schedules, and budgets. - Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure adequate project resourcing. - Identify risks, roadblocks, and scope-creep; proactively recommend solutions. - Communicate project updates to stakeholders, including executive leadership. - Prepare and manage procurement documentation such as purchase orders and change orders. - Oversee vendor and subcontractor relationships to ensure quality and on time delivery. - Review invoices and ensure timely, accurate processing. - Promote safety culture, professionalism, and high levels of client satisfaction. - Maintain accurate project documentation, including tracking, reporting, and close-out files. - Support continuous improvement initiatives using Lean methodologies (when applicable) Requirements Experience - 3+ years of project management experience, ideally within engineering, industrial, or manufacturing sectors. - Experience working with capital projects or engineering project environments. - Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. - Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. - Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Education - Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field. Preferred Qualifications - PMP Certification Why Excel Engineering?
