Position Overview Eurasia Group is seeking an Analyst to lead political and macroeconomic coverage of Central America and the Caribbean. This role is ideal for a candidate with 4 to 7 years of experience who combines strong regional expertise with macroeconomic analysis and who can translate fast-moving political developments into clear implications for markets and business. The role may be based in Washington, DC; Mexico; or Central America (ideally Panama, El Salvador, Costa Rica, or Guatemala). The position will require travel throughout the region to conduct research, build and maintain a high-quality local network, and deepen on-the-ground insight. The role will support Eurasia Group’s deliverables to both institutional investors and corporate clients. Responsibilities of Analyst, Central America and the Caribbean - Lead regional coverage and analysis of Central America and the Caribbean, monitoring political, policy, and macroeconomic developments and assessing their implications for markets and business. - Produce weekly outlooks and timely analysis on key political and economic developments, including elections, governance and institutional risk, security dynamics, US policy, trade/investment issues, and key regulatory shifts. - Apply strong economic and financial market understanding to regional developments, including analysis of macroeconomic conditions, fiscal and monetary policy, and financing needs and sources. - Build, expand, and maintain a robust local network of contacts across government, opposition, the private sector, and multilateral institutions; travel regularly to develop and sustain on-the-ground insight. - Translate regional and country-level developments into clear, actionable implications for clients, including scenario framing, risk assessment, and signposting. - Engage directly with clients through briefings, calls, and presentations, communicating analysis clearly to sophisticated audiences and responding to client questions with speed. - Maintain a strong understanding of US policy toward the region and, as relevant, engage with Washington-based policy ecosystems to inform analysis and client deliverables. Qualifications - 4 to 7 years of relevant professional experience (e.g., political risk, country risk, macro/markets research, advisory, consulting, public policy, or related fields with strong regional exposure). - Demonstrated expertise in Central America and the Caribbean, with strong preference for candidates who are from the region and/or have lived and worked in the region. - Fluent/native Spanish (speaking and writing) required, with the ability to write clearly and professionally under deadline. - Strong economic and finance skillset, including comfort interpreting macroeconomic data. Ability to connect political and policy developments to investor- and corporate-relevant outcomes - Excellent analytical judgment and ability to deliver clear, concise, client-ready writing on tight timelines. - Strong verbal communication and presentation skills; comfort engaging directly with senior client audiences. - Highly organized, collaborative, and able to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment. - Master’s degree required, ideally an MA in Economics, International Relations, Public Policy, or a related field. Location / Work Authorization This role may be based in Washington, DC; Mexico; or Central America (ideally Panama, El Salvador, Costa Rica, or Guatemala). Candidates based in the United States must be eligible to work in the United States. The applicable base salary range for this role is $80,000 to $90,000 in the United States. The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, and education. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
