Senior Rendering Programmer

Role Description Electric Square is looking for an accomplished, enthusiastic, and self-motivated Senior Rendering Programmer to join our team working on an exciting, new, and unannounced project. The Senior Rendering Programmer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and implementing systems and game code, and is happy to turn their hand to any task required. They are an active member of the code team, setting an example for and mentoring less experienced programmers. - Designs, develops, writes, tests, and implements systems and game code, with a focus on rendering pipelines, tools, and shaders. - Works with designers, artists, and other personnel involved in the development process as required to create the highest possible quality product. - Helps to develop technical design specifications and is able to implement them. - Tests and refines rendering features and optimisations throughout the development cycle of the project. - Estimates own tasks and delivers high-quality code to that schedule. - Mentors code team, passing on experience and expertise, and leads by example. - Performs code reviews with the team to ensure code quality. Qualifications - Proficient in C/C++ with a minimum of 4 years of experience. - Proficient in various graphics APIs (e.g., DirectX, Vulkan, OpenGL, Metal) and shader languages. - 5 years of experience working in the video games industry. - 2 years of experience in console programming. - Unity or Unreal experience. - Worked on at least 1 shipped game. Requirements - Knowledge of industry-standard development practices: source control, asset pipelines, issue tracking, external QA, and localisation teams (helpful but not required). - Exposure to post-launch ongoing product development and delivery (helpful but not required). - Continuous integration and build automation experience (helpful but not required). - Worked in an Agile development environment (helpful but not required). - Experience with art packages and pipeline development (helpful but not required). - Experience with low-level optimisation, shader programming, physics, or mathematics (helpful but not required). - Understanding and experience of cloud server and network backend systems (helpful but not required). • Reports to the Lead Artist. • Works with the UI/UX Designer, develop the visual style of the user interface, produce target visuals alongside market research around the genre and themes. • Works with the design team to define the functionality and feature requirements for UI. • Works with UX to produce and integrate functional user interface with common rules and a clear hierarchy of elements using shapes, colour, fonts, line weight and fx. • Collaborates with the team from concept to completion, ensuring that the vision is maintained across the whole production process. • Helps to achieve milestone goals, estimate work, capture stories, sub-tasks and flag production risks. • Produces well thought-out and clear documentation to share your work and strategy/thinking. • Works closely with the engineering team to ensure smooth implementation, uphold the design vision and maintain quality throughout.

• Reporting to the Lead Artist • Working with the Lead Technical Animator to establish a reliable pipeline to author gameplay and performance animations. • Responsible for the creation and integration of world-class character animations in the game engine • Applies animation principles to create high-quality animations while optimising them to meet technical constraints and making any changes that are requested based on artistic direction • Works in close collaboration with the Lead Artist, Game Designers, and Programmers to understand quality objectives, gameplay intentions, and engine capabilities to deliver AAA quality for work objectives • Communicates and works closely with Game Designers and Programmers to find effective solutions, fix issues, and achieve goals on time • Quickly prototypes and previsualises animation systems and ideas that will serve as a basis for animation and gameplay-related discussions • Supports the requirements for in-game cut-scenes and performance animation as required at Lively, the worlds we create are crucial to our games and in delivering fantastic experiences to our players.

Data Analyst

Role Description We are currently looking for a Data Analyst to join our Lively team - but we are fully supportive of remote working and happy to enable whatever blend of home and office best empowers you and your work. - Designs, implements, and validates game telemetry to capture meaningful player data in an efficient and optimal way. - Extracts, transforms, and analyses large datasets using SQL and other data manipulation techniques. Bonus points for experience using Python or R. - Builds and maintains dashboards and visualizations to track KPIs, feature performance, economy balance, etc. Strong technical skills with at least one major BI tool (Power BI, Tableau, Looker, etc.). - Applies causal inference and experimental design methods (e.g., A/B testing, difference-in-differences) to assess the real impact of changes and features. - Works closely with product managers, designers, engineers, and producers to define data needs and share actionable insights. - Presents complex findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership and external clients. - Supports a culture of data-driven decision making across the studio. Qualifications - Experience in the games industry or with player behaviour analytics is essential. - SQL expertise for querying and manipulating large datasets. - Proficiency with at least one major data visualisation tool (Power BI, Tableau, Looker). - Strong proficiency in data manipulation and data modelling techniques. - Working knowledge of statistical methods for experimentation design, including hypothesis testing, sample size calculation, confidence intervals, and techniques such as A/B testing and Difference-in-Differences. - Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor insights to different audiences. - Familiarity with scripting or statistical programming languages (e.g., Python, R) is an advantage.
