Role Description The School Psychologist provides comprehensive psychological and consultative services to support students' academic, social-emotional, and behavioral success. This includes: - Conducting psychoeducational assessments - Developing individualized intervention plans - Participating in special education eligibility decisions - Collaborating with families, staff, and outside agencies to promote student well-being and educational progress Qualifications - Education: - Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Educational Psychology, or a related field - Master’s degree in Educational Psychology, School Psychology, or related discipline (minimum requirement) - Certification/Licensure: - State licensure or certification as a School Psychologist or eligibility for licensure in Texas - Experience: - Experience working in school or educational settings - Experience with psychological assessments, interventions, and IEP development - Preferred: Published research or demonstrated use of data-based decision making - Special Knowledge and Skills: - Strong knowledge of special education laws and IDEA regulations - Skilled in administering, scoring, and interpreting psychological, academic, and behavioral assessments - Strong understanding of learning theories, developmental psychology, and evidence-based interventions - Knowledge of MTSS, RTI, and behavior management systems - Proficiency in data analysis and statistical software - Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and families - Demonstrated cultural competence and ability to serve diverse populations - Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information in accordance with professional ethics Requirements - Conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations to determine cognitive, academic, emotional, behavioral, and adaptive functioning - Participate in ARD (Admission, Review, and Dismissal) meetings and provide input regarding eligibility and program planning - Collaborate with teachers and related service providers to ensure alignment between assessment data and IEP goals - Prepare clear, comprehensive evaluation reports in compliance with district and state timelines - Use culturally responsive assessment tools and procedures to support equity in evaluation - Consult with teachers, administrators, and families to develop and implement classroom-based and individualized supports - Participate in MTSS and RTI processes, including data review and intervention planning - Provide direct psychological services, including counseling or behavior intervention, for students as needed - Support staff development related to mental health, child development, behavior management, and inclusive practices - Serve as a liaison between the school, families, and outside mental health or medical providers - Support the development of behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and provide ongoing consultation on implementation - Collaborate with ARD committees to develop evidence-based, measurable goals and track progress - Communicate complex information clearly and respectfully with all stakeholders - Assist in the evaluation and continuous improvement of psychological services across the district - Maintain accurate, timely documentation and comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws - Stay current with research and best practices through ongoing professional development - Maintain regular attendance and professional conduct - Perform other duties as assigned Benefits - Work with frequent interruptions - Maintain emotional control under stress - Handle confidential information appropriately - Interpret and apply data, regulations, and procedures - Prolonged sitting and computer use - Occasional lifting of assessment materials - May require flexible scheduling to meet evaluation timelines - Must be willing and able to report on site at own expense
Role Description The Educational Diagnostician is responsible for conducting comprehensive evaluations to assess students’ learning and behavioral needs and determine eligibility for special education services. The diagnostician collaborates with educators, parents, and other stakeholders to develop and implement data-driven Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that support student achievement and functional performance in accordance with state and federal regulations. Qualifications - Master’s degree - Valid Texas certification as an Educational Diagnostician - Valid Texas teaching certificate - Minimum of three years teaching experience in public education (preferred) - Experience with special education procedures and compliance expectations - Familiarity with TEA disability eligibility criteria and best practices in assessment - Knowledge of learning theories, cognitive development, and psychoeducational assessments - Strong understanding of IDEA, Section 504, and Texas Education Code provisions - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams - Strong organizational and time management skills - Proficiency in the use of diagnostic tools, eSped, and related technology platforms Requirements - Conduct full and individual evaluations using formal and informal tools to assess academic, cognitive, social, emotional, and behavioral functioning - Select and administer assessments appropriate for the referral concern(s) and student characteristics - Interpret evaluation data to determine eligibility for special education services under IDEA - Prepare written evaluation reports that clearly explain findings and recommendations - Maintain compliance with state and federal timelines for evaluations and reevaluations - Participate in ARD meetings, presenting evaluation results and providing guidance on eligibility, programming, accommodations, and services - Collaborate with ARD committees to develop measurable, appropriate IEP goals and objectives based on student data - Ensure educational need is clearly documented and aligned to TEA eligibility criteria - Provide consultative support to general and special education teachers in instructional planning and progress monitoring - Serve as a resource to campus staff and families regarding learning disabilities, accommodations, and instructional strategies - Assist with Response to Intervention (RtI) and Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) processes - Foster effective communication with students, parents, campus personnel, and outside agencies - Ensure documentation of evaluation timelines, consents, eligibility criteria, and recommendations is thorough and timely - Maintain accurate records and adhere to local, state, and federal documentation standards - Stay current on changes in state eligibility criteria, evaluation practices, and district policies - Use eSped or district-approved platforms to manage special education paperwork - Engage in professional development activities to improve and maintain evaluation skills - Follow ethical and legal practices in all aspects of educational diagnostics - Adhere to district procedures for safeguarding confidential information - Perform other duties as assigned Benefits - Exempt position - Pay grade: AP2/197 days Working Conditions - Mental Demands: - Maintain emotional control under stress - Prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously - Communicate effectively in high-stakes ARD settings - Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: - Prolonged periods of sitting and computer use - Occasional lifting of assessment materials - May require flexible scheduling to meet evaluation deadlines - Must be willing and able to report on-site at own expense
