Role Description CLJ Consulting and Contracting LLC is seeking a FOIA Analyst to support the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Office of Support Operations (OSO). The OSO is responsible for processing requests under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Privacy Act, managing agency records in accordance with the Federal Records Act, and supporting overall operational functions of the SEC. The FOIA Analyst will provide cradle-to-grave FOIA processing support, including: - Document review - Redaction - Correspondence drafting - Case management Ensuring compliance with federal statutes, regulations, and SEC policies. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, Criminal Justice, or related field (or equivalent experience in lieu of degree). - Minimum of 4 years of paralegal or related experience, including at least 1 year of direct FOIA processing experience. - Demonstrated experience applying FOIA exemptions and processing requests. - Proficiency with database management systems and electronic redaction tools (e.g., Relativity or similar platforms). - Ability to obtain and maintain a favorable credit history (as required for suitability). Requirements - Review and prepare documents for FOIA release, including redaction of exempt information and duplication of materials as required. - Apply appropriate FOIA exemptions (5 U.S.C. §552) and Privacy Act considerations (5 U.S.C. §552a). - Ensure all released materials are compliant and do not contain non-releasable or exempt information. - Maintain and manage FOIA case files in accordance with established procedures and timelines. - Review program office records for responsiveness and releasability determinations. - Input and track FOIA requests and appeals within designated systems. - Draft correspondence to requesters using approved templates and standard language. - Coordinate with Points of Contact (POCs) to ensure timely and accurate document collection. - Adhere to all SEC regulations, policies, and procedural guidance. - Support overall operations of the Office of FOIA Services, including additional duties as assigned.
