Role Description The Operations Specialist II serves as an advanced operational resource responsible for managing complex and high-risk cases, strengthening client experience, and reinforcing compliance standards. This role plays a key part in accuracy, quality, and ensuring consistency across global operations teams. - Manage escalated orders, high-risk verifications, and complex exception cases - Serve as a point of contact for sensitive client and internal communications - Balance SLA performance expectations with heightened focus on quality and compliance standards - Apply advanced knowledge of verification processes, FCRA requirements, and quality controls - Conduct targeted quality reviews and support remediation planning - Identify recurring issues, perform root cause analysis, and escalate findings to Compliance and Operations leadership - Reinforce accountability and consistency across distributed and international operational teams - Provide guidance and informal coaching to frontline Operations Specialists - Collaborate with Compliance, Product, Implementations, and Customer Support to resolve operational gaps - Maintain and enhance standard operating procedures to improve clarity and operational consistency - Analyze operational data to recommend workflow enhancements and error reduction strategies - Additional duties as assigned Qualifications - 2–4+ years of experience in background screening or compliance-driven operations; Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience - Strong analytical skills and sound professional judgment in complex or escalated cases - Working knowledge of FCRA, verification processes, quality controls, and regulated workflows - Experience handling escalations and sensitive client communications - Demonstrated ability to identify trends, manage ambiguity, perform root cause analysis, and escalate risk appropriately - PBSA Certification preferred - A dedicated home office space that is noise- and distraction-free with access to a reliable and secure high-speed internet connection. Why ClearStar Needs You: ClearStar is seeking a licensed physician to join our drug testing program team as a Part-Time Medical Review Officer (MRO). In this critical role, you'll serve as the primary clinical authority overseeing the integrity of our drug testing process, working alongside our Operations team to ensure the highest standards of accuracy and compliance. As the liaison between our laboratory partners, employers, donors, and regulatory bodies, you'll help maintain ClearStar's reputation as a trusted leader in background screening and drug testing services What You'll Do: - Review and interpret laboratory‑confirmed results and determine legitimate medical explanations. - Conduct confidential donor interviews when needed. - Verify and report final test outcomes to employers or agencies. - Oversee MRO Assistants handling negative and non‑negative non‑DOT screens. - Ensure compliance with federal, state, and industry regulations, including DOT 49 CFR Part 40. - Oversee chain‑of‑custody processes and participate in audits and quality reviews. - Support occupational testing initiatives, including occasional marketing or clinical review projects. - Additional duties as assigned. What You'll Need: - MD or DO with an unrestricted license and board certification or eligibility. - Active MRO certification through AAMRO or MROCC. - At least 5 years of related experience, including 2 in drug screening. - Malpractice insurance. - Strong knowledge of toxicology, pharmacology, lab processes, and confidentiality standards. - Proficiency with Microsoft Office. - A dedicated home office space that is noise- and distraction-free with access to a reliable and secure high-speed internet connection. Qualifications - 8–10+ years of progressive experience leading People Operations or Human Resources functions, including direct partnership with executive leadership and ownership of company-wide people programs. - Experience operating as the senior HR leader or head of People within a small to mid sized organization. - Demonstrated experience leading organizational change initiatives such as restructuring, workforce planning, or operating model changes. - Direct experience owning performance management and compensation programs, including company-wide goal setting, performance review cycles, calibration practices, and annual merit or promotion planning in partnership with Finance. - Experience overseeing core People Operations functions including HR systems, payroll, benefits administration, and compliance, ideally using platforms such as Rippling or similar HRIS and payroll systems. - Working knowledge of multi state employment regulations and employment compliance requirements. - Experience operating in a player coach capacity, balancing strategic leadership with hands on ownership of core People Operations functions. - Ability to analyze workforce data, influence senior stakeholders, and communicate complex people issues to leadership while developing practical solutions that support business objectives. - A dedicated home office space that is noise- and distraction-free with access to a reliable and secure high-speed internet connection.
