What is the role of the Managing Attorney? Clearcover is seeking a seasoned and strategic Managing Attorney to lead our insurance legal function. We’re seeking a seasoned litigator to serve as Managing Attorney for Clearcover’s Texas staff counsel office. You’ll be our first in-house trial lawyer in the state, responsible for handling your own docket of first- and third-party auto cases and helping us build the internal team that will defend our insureds across Texas. This is a rare opportunity to blend hands-on courtroom practice with team leadership and operational strategy—inside a fast-growing, well-funded insurtech that values ethical lawyering and customer trust. What will you do? - Lead In-House Litigation in Texas - Litigate a full docket of personal auto defense cases (BI, PD, UM/UIM, PIP, etc.) - Handle all aspects of pre-trial and trial litigation, from pleadings and motions to depositions, mediations, and jury trials - Make strategic decisions in case handling, reporting, and resolution in coordination with Claims partners - Appear regularly in courts across key Texas venues (e.g., Harris, Dallas, Bexar, Tarrant, Travis counties) - Build and Lead the Staff Counsel Function - Help design and stand up our in-house litigation model in Texas - Participate in hiring, training, and mentoring future staff counsel and legal support - Implement workflows, performance metrics, and best practices for trial excellence - Serve as the point of contact between the litigation team and Legal leadership - Operational & Product Collaboration: - Provide expert coverage opinions and guide the claims department on complex and high-exposure claims. - Collaborate with the Insurance Product team on policy language and form development, leveraging insights from claims and legal trends. - Serve as a key legal resource for the Underwriting team on coverage interpretation and risk assessment. What do you need? - 4-6 years of legal experience, with a focus on insurance coverage. - Experience with private passenger automobile policy defense and coverage interpretation and litigation, which includes both first (UM, COMP, COLL, PIP, MED PAY) and third party (BI, PD) coverage types. - Litigation experience, including Declaratory Judgment Action work and other brief writing. - Bar Licensed to practice law and in good standing in one of the 50 states or DC. - Experience with Other types of insurance policies and related interpretation and coverage work for: Homeowners, Renters, Professional Liability, Inland Marine, Commercial/Business Auto and Fleet is a plus, but not required. What will you do? - Fanatically monitor and respond to customer and agent inquiries via phone, email, sms, and chat, with a primary focus on converting warm inbound and outbound sales opportunities while supporting servicing needs - Engage customers through inbound and outbound warm leads to drive new business, policy changes, cross-sell, and retention outcomes - Drive strong individual performance against conversion outcomes and productivity metrics in a high-velocity environment - Apply multiple sales approaches (consultative, needs-based, objection handling, urgency-driven) to uncover customer intent and close opportunities - Provide expert customer service that transforms Clearcover customers (including really frustrated ones) into brand evangelists - Identify and assess customers’ needs through relatively unstructured interaction - Handle customer complaints, provide appropriate solutions and alternatives, and follow up to ensure resolution - Build sustainable relationships and trust with customers through open and interactive communication - Keep records of customer interactions, process customer accounts, and file documents - Deliver on Clearcover’s promise to our customers by actually solving their problems (also paying attention to a few service level guidelines and policies) - Monitor product or pricing changes and adapt sales approaches to optimize conversion - Maintain schedule adherence in a call center environment to support service level commitments and customer experience What do you need? - P&C insurance license - Ability to fluidly switch between sales-focused interactions (approximately 70% inbound/outbound warm leads) and servicing responsibilities - Proven ability to balance consultative selling with high-volume customer interactions across phone and digital channels - Strong active listening skills with the ability to influence, persuade, and clearly communicate value during live conversations - Excellent grammar and writing skills - Demonstrated ability to translate insurance concepts into simple, compelling language that supports informed purchasing decisions - Comfort using CRM, sales, and support tools to manage leads, follow-ups, and customer records - Resilience under pressure with the ability to remain professional, confident, and positive in high-stakes or objection-heavy conversations - Demonstrated ability to balance the needs of the customer with the needs of the business - Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively - BA/BS in English, Communication, or comparable work experience - A tactful, timely sense of humor is also a must. What is a Supervisor, Claims APD at Clearcover? As a Supervisor, Claims APD, you will be responsible for overseeing a team of claims liability claims professionals adjusters, ensuring efficient and effective handling of auto property damage claims while maintaining the highest standards of customer service. What will you do? - Oversee all claims activities with established claims policy and procedures. - Supervise a team of claims representatives, providing guidance, support, and training as needed. - Review and evaluate auto property damage claims to determine coverage, liability, and settlement options. - Monitor claim files to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company policies and procedures. - Identify and assess internal trends for efficiency gains and process improvement. - Handle escalated customer inquiries or complaints, resolving issues promptly and professionally. - Maintain a knowledge base of training materials, standard procedures, and shared partner guidelines. - Supports Clearcover quality assurance initiatives. - Provides in-depth reporting on claims metrics and communicates results to executive leadership. - Works with Legal Department on claims resolution strategies - Implements department vision and goals within their team. - Regularly tracks progress against departmental goals. - Coach team members on best practices related to customer interactions and efficiencies. - Audit calls to ensure consistency amongst team members in insurance knowledge and the customer experience. - Is accountable for team performance while keeping the team focused and motivated. What do you need? - Demonstrated understanding of auto claims operations, including the challenges and rewards of running a best-in-class auto claims organization. - Proven experience solving complex problems end to end. - Demonstrated track record of driving continuous improvement and supporting ongoing professional growth. - Experience operating with appropriate supervision while aligning work to company strategy and high-level goals. - Experience supporting department leadership through contributions to long-term strategy development and leadership decision making. - Proven experience serving as a trusted advisor and role model for team members and cross-functional partners. - Experience leading department-wide initiatives such as process improvements, automation efforts, or training and onboarding programs. Required Education and Experience: - Bachelor's Degree, or commensurate work experience - A minimum of 8-10 years experience in auto physical damage claims - A minimum of 3-5 years in Claims leadership experience at a personal auto carrier - Customer orientation and ability to adapt/respond to different types of individuals - Experience with claims related technology for national claims program - Active adjuster’s license (required) Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. What is the Claims Representative, Bodily Injury? Claims Representative, Bodily Injury have the important and unique role of helping Clearcover customers during one of the moments that matters most: When they must file an insurance claim. Our Claims Representatives are empathetic, patient people who love connecting with and helping customers.
