Children's Funding Project

• The Vice President of Communications leads organization-wide communications strategy to elevate Children’s Funding Project’s visibility, clarify and amplify our narrative, and advance the children’s funding movement. • Oversee executive and thought-leadership communications, media relations, digital and social media, publications, and learning-related communications. • Strengthen communications systems and capacity across the organization. • Steward organization’s communications strategy with defined goals, audiences, priorities, and measures of success. • Promote a unifying national narrative about directing public funding to children that bridges policy complexity and public understanding. • Invest in and oversee executive communications, including thought leadership support for the CEO and other key leaders. • Drive continuous improvement of communications operations, including simplified approval pathways and decision-making thresholds. • Develop and implement a proactive media strategy that positions Children’s Funding Project and its leadership as national thought leaders. • Oversee digital presence, including website, email, and social media channels. • Ensure major communications initiatives and campaigns support real-world action.

• Conduct advanced legal research on the authority of local governments to raise public revenue through tax mechanisms. • Analyze state constitutional and statutory provisions governing local taxing authority. • Translate complex legal frameworks into clear, actionable guidance for internal staff and external partners. • Monitor and analyze state and local tax policy developments nationwide. • Develop and maintain a 50-state local taxing authority database, ensuring research is standardized, accessible, and usable. • Provide legal research, coaching, and strategic technical assistance to Children’s Funding Coordinators. • Support contract and grant management for the local taxing authority portfolio, including deliverable tracking and funder reporting.
