Role Description The Director of Business Development, Renewables Technical Advisory, leads commercial strategy, business development and sales, and proposal execution for engineering and scientific advisory services in solar, wind, storage, and hybrid projects. The role requires a commercially driven technical expert with a strong track record in renewable energy sales and experience working closely with developers, owners and operators, utilities, investors, and financial institutions. Role Description The Pre-Stressed Concrete Inspector is responsible for oversight of the fabrication facility's quality assurance on behalf of Bureau Veritas's client. The client's for these assignments are typically state Departments of Transportation or construction contractors. The inspector must have significant knowledge of Precast/Prestressed Concrete and demonstrable experience in a similar position. The skills required for this position include: - Communicating with the Project Manager to determine the specific requirements of a given work order, including the scope of work, deliverables, schedule, and budget for a particular assignment. - Communication with the Project Manager, fabrication shops, contractors, and other third parties to resolve schedule issues. - Ensure that the services provided are performed in accordance with the project requirements and contract with the client. - Generate and process timesheets, billing reports, and inspection reports in an expeditious and thorough manner, complying with all applicable deadlines. - All reports must be submitted typewritten using Microsoft Word/Adobe Acrobat and must be electronically transmitted to the Project Manager. - Communicate information from the fabrication facility regarding upcoming assignments and potential work that Bureau Veritas could perform. - Maintain a positive relationship between Bureau Veritas, the fabrication facility, and the client. - Ability to work remotely from the established Bureau Veritas offices. - Client oriented approach with emphasis on understanding and fulfilling the needs of the client. - Detail oriented with a dedication to the quality control and quality assurance process; ability to understand and read complex design and fabrication plans and specifications. - Excellent communication and documentation skills, with ability to communicate technical issues to the Project Manager, clients, and the fabrication facility. - Expertise in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) required; knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and Lotus Notes preferred. - Proficient use of modern communication and computer equipment including cell phones, laptop computers and digital cameras. - Ability to multi-task and properly execute multiple simultaneous assignments without sacrificing efficiency or quality of the work. - Team player willing to work with clients, field staff, other Bureau Veritas offices, and the worldwide Bureau Veritas organization. Role Description The Commissioning Specialist performs advanced technical analysis and evaluation of electrical and mechanical systems in support of commissioning and retro-commissioning projects, as well as related regulatory audits governed by NFPA and NEC. This role is responsible for assessing whether building systems and equipment operate in accordance with engineering design intent, project specifications, and applicable regulatory standards. Through the interpretation of system performance data, engineering drawings, and field conditions, the Commissioning Specialist identifies deficiencies, determines root causes, and develops technically sound recommendations to support system optimization and compliance. Working collaboratively with commissioning engineers, contractors, vendors, and client stakeholders, the Commissioning Specialist applies specialized knowledge of building systems to synthesize technical findings into clear, actionable conclusions used to inform project outcomes and client decision-making. Field activities are conducted as part of a broader analytical process to gather and evaluate system performance information. This role requires advanced knowledge of electrical and/or mechanical building systems, the ability to apply engineering principles in evaluating complex system interactions, and the consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion. Success in this position depends on strong analytical capability, effective technical communication, and the ability to adapt methodologies to varied project conditions while supporting safe and efficient project execution. Role Description The successful candidate will be responsible for providing advice and support to clients on compliance with the requirements of the Building Safety Act 2022 and associated secondary legislation. At its core, the role focuses on providing advice to the statutory duty holders on both new and existing buildings categorized as Higher Risk Bureau Buildings, during the design, construction, and occupation phases of a building. - Deliver projects to the required quality and contribute to business growth and development activities. - Provide an expert point of reference on legislative and procedural matters relating to the application of the requirements of the Building Safety Act 2022 and the associated Secondary Legislation. - Contribute to the continuous improvement process within the business unit, assisting in the development of new assurance services. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in both U.S. and Canadian federal, state, and provincial labor and tax regulations, ensuring timely, compliant, and precise payroll for a multi-jurisdictional workforce. This role requires strong analytical, compliance, and customer service skills, along with a keen eye for audit, review, and continuous accuracy. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: - Payroll Processing & Compliance: - Prepare and process multi-state U.S. and multi-province Canadian payrolls (salaried and hourly) on a bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly basis, including validating payroll data and outputs to ensure accuracy and completeness. - Ensure compliance with federal, state, provincial, and local laws regarding wages, deductions, taxes, and reporting requirements (e.g., IRS, CRA, SSA, state/provincial labor boards), validating adherence across all payroll activities. - Calculate, review, and validate retroactive payments, bonuses, garnishments, commissions, and other special pay types. - Coordinate, review, and validate payroll inputs from HR, Time & Attendance systems, and benefits for accuracy and alignment prior to processing. - Investigate, validate, and resolve errors in payroll and accounting systems, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions. - Ensure overall accuracy and timeliness of payroll through thorough review and validation of all payroll outputs. - Reporting & Analysis: - Reconcile and validate payroll reports and GL accounts; support month-end and year-end close. - Create, analyze, and validate payroll reports for finance, HR, and auditors to ensure data integrity. - Prepare and audit year-end tax forms (e.g., W-2, W-2C, 1099, T4, T4A, RL-1), ensuring accuracy and compliance prior to distribution. - Ensure all employee terminations and remittances are processed, reviewed, and validated accurately and on time—including ROE, RRSP, and WSIB. - Assist in payroll audits by validating supporting documentation and ensuring audit readiness. - Act as a liaison with auditors and various government agencies, providing validated and accurate payroll data as required. - System Management & Process Improvement: - Maintain and validate accurate payroll records in payroll/HRIS platforms (e.g., ADP, Success Factors). - Participate in system upgrades, testing, and implementations, including validation of system outputs and payroll results. - Identify and implement process improvements to enhance payroll accuracy, efficiency, and validation controls. - Update Payroll SOPs and procedures to reflect best practices in validation, compliance, and process consistency. - Employee Support & Communication: - Respond to payroll inquiries from employees in the U.S. and Canada in a timely, professional manner. - Educate employees and managers on payroll-related topics (e.g., paystubs, tax forms, direct deposit). Qualifications - Proficient in Microsoft Suite, i.e. Excel, Word and PowerPoint. - Excellent attention to detail, time management skills, and confidentiality. - Proven ability to audit, validate, and reconcile payroll data with a high degree of accuracy. - Analytical mindset with the ability to identify discrepancies, trends, and process gaps. - Experience managing multi-jurisdictional payroll in a high-volume environment. - Strong understanding of payroll accounting and general ledger reconciliation. - Ability to maintain strict confidentiality while handling sensitive employee and compensation data. - Detail-oriented with a strong focus on data integrity and process accuracy. - Ability to prioritize and manage multiple payroll cycles and deadlines simultaneously. Requirements - 5+ years of end-to-end payroll experience in both U.S. and Canadian jurisdictions. - Post Secondary Education in Business or related discipline. - In-depth knowledge of U.S. federal and state labor/payroll laws (FLSA, IRS regulations, etc.). - Strong understanding of Canadian payroll legislation (Employment Standards, CRA, Service Canada, provincial regulations). - Experience with payroll systems (e.g., ADP Workforce Now – Cross Border, ADP eTime, ADP Workforce Manager, Success Factors). Preferred Qualifications - Experience supporting a distributed workforce or multi-entity organization. - Bilingual (English/French) is a strong asset, especially for Quebec payroll.
