• You'll help surgical teams see and act on what's happening in the OR in real time, where minutes of delay compound across a day of cases • Be able to evolve the strategic vision and roadmap of our Pulse product to support increasing impact on our customers operational efficiency, balancing what should be in the product roadmap vs. what should be professional services • Collaborate with our technical partners, engineering, design, data science and machine learning, as well as our commercial ones in sales and customer success • Evaluate new opportunities within OR operations workflows • Bring Pulse to where the OR team actually is, on their feet, between cases, on mobile — so the right person gets the right signal at the moment it matters, not back at a workstation.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and data science teams to understand business challenges and the potential for machine learning and AI solutions. • Develop tools and automate manual processes to improve operational efficiency, accelerate experimentation velocity, and minimize human error. • Build, integrate, and monitor the end-to-end lifecycles of large-scale, distributed machine learning systems. • Investigate model performance and identify data quality and performance issues.
• Develop and execute a sales strategy to drive growth across enterprise health systems, including Integrated Delivery Networks (IDNs) and large hospital networks • Build and manage executive-level relationships with C-Suite leaders, surgeons, OR directors, IT teams, biomedical engineers, and administrators • Consistently achieve and exceed quota through disciplined pipeline management and enterprise sales execution • Lead negotiations, Request for Proposals (RFPs), and contract structuring for multi-million dollar system-wide deals • Partner cross-functionally with marketing, product, R&D, and customer success to accelerate adoption and ensure customer success • Represent Apella externally with credibility and passion, serving as a trusted advisor to customers and stakeholders • Contribute to revenue forecasting, territory planning, and scalable sales processes to support sustained growth
• Lead customer-facing implementation tasks — Serve as the primary point of contact for customers during data interface setup, coordinating with their EHR/Optime, interface, and reporting teams to meet project milestones. • Execute data validation and testing — Build and run test scripts to validate HL7 interfaces (SIU messages), report-based data feeds (e.g., Epic Reporting Workbench, Clarity scheduled/logged case reports, block schedule and release files), and other data sources. • Monitor production interfaces — Track active customer data feeds for variances (e.g., new surgical service lines, unmapped procedures) and outages (e.g., missing fields, dropped messages), escalating and resolving issues proactively. • Support new customer onboarding — Coordinate the technical data integration workstream for new implementations, including staging environment setup, endpoint testing, and production go-live QA. • Maintain documentation and processes — Create and maintain customer-specific data configuration documents, test plans, runbooks, and interface specifications. • Collaborate cross-functionally — Work closely with Product, Engineering, and Customer Success to relay data availability questions, surface limitations (e.g., real-time vs. nightly batch data), and inform the product roadmap with implementation insights. • Support scoping of new data sources — Assist in evaluating alternative data sources such as ADT feeds, orders interfaces, and Epic APIs as Apella expands its data platform.
• Build and improve our native iOS and Android applications • Own features end to end, from design and architecture through launch and iteration • Partner closely with product and design to deliver polished, reliable user experiences • Improve mobile performance, architecture, testing, and release workflows • Contribute across backend and web systems when features require cross-stack ownership • Help raise the engineering bar through technical leadership, code review, and mentorship
• Serve as the primary relationship owner between Apella and clinical and technology partner organizations, maintaining consistent engagement with corporate and regional leadership • Translate Apella's technology into compelling clinical and operational value narratives for physicians, perioperative leaders, and hospital executives • Drive partner-sourced pipeline by activating existing partnerships and keeping Apella top-of-mind with regional partner sales teams • Organize and deliver partner education programs (including lunch-and-learns, clinical education sessions, and sales training) to enable partner teams to sell effectively • Collaborate with Apella's AVPs of Sales on joint deal cycles, providing clinical credibility and partner coordination during late-stage opportunities • Develop and maintain enablement materials, tailored collateral, and success stories in partnership with Product Marketing • Act as the internal champion for partner-driven opportunities, sharing field insights to inform go-to-market strategy, messaging, and product direction

What you'll bring: - 4+ years of experience in backend software engineering, with a focus on service-oriented architectures, high-throughput systems, and platform infrastructure. - Strong proficiency in at least one backend programming language (Python, Java, Go, etc.). - Experience designing and consuming APIs (REST, GraphQL, gRPC, etc.) and working with asynchronous or message-based systems. - Hands-on experience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases. - Working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or similar) and how applications run in production environments. - Experience building resilient systems with proper testing, validation, and error handling. - Experience with infrastructure-as-code or platform tooling that supports backend services.
