• Manage and coordinate state-based efforts to develop and execute multi-year campaign plans to get assigned states’ legislators “ready to ratify” the For Our Freedom Amendment, and work with the AP’s federal team to get those states’ congressional delegations “ready to propose” the amendment; • Serve as lead contact and coordinator for state partners, government affairs firms, and consultants to maximize results and adapt campaign strategies to address developments on the ground; • Work with leadership in the Programs & Campaigns department to help develop state budgets; • Help to lead and coordinate programs that link our state and federal strategies by ensuring that state-level progress is leveraged in our federal work; • Manage and develop one or more Political Managers to support key strategic goals of the Programs & Campaigns department;

Role Description This position plays a key role in expanding the opportunity for college students, early career Americans, law students and other young citizen leaders to participate in our movement. The Young Americans Coordinator is the architect of and program lead for our efforts to recruit and activate Young Americans in priority states and across the country. Working closely with the Director of Coalitions & Partnerships and the American Promise States Team, the leader in this position must enjoy both building broad, large-scale programming and cultivating deep, targeted relationships. This position requires a passion for bridging political divides, unearthing our common ground, and inspiring and uniting young Americans in our mission. American Promise is a rapidly adapting organization, and this role will evolve as the organization and its strategy evolve. Travel to various states can be expected. Qualifications - A commitment to and excitement for the American Promise mission, goal, and values, especially our cross-partisan, right-to-left approach. - Recent college graduate with extracurricular or work experience in political campaigns, organizing, and/or advocacy. - Adaptability to a rapidly evolving strategy. - Excellent interpersonal and networking skills with large groups as well as with individuals. - Strong communications skills, including organizational, conversational, presenting, and writing skills, with the ability to inspire hope and articulate the mission, goals, and progress of American Promise. - Impeccable at follow-up in a way that moves contacts from being aware of us to being raving fans and partners. - Excellent political acumen and judgment. - Ability to be a self-starter and initiator, working both independently and collaboratively on a team, and both contributing to and leading projects. - Exceptionally organized with a track record of managing projects and solving problems. - Learns proactively, receives feedback gracefully, and contributes feedback to the team. - Willingness to travel and work occasional evenings and weekends. - Must possess integrity, sound judgment, maturity, and a sense of humor. - Familiarity with Google Workspace, Salesforce, and LinkedIn a plus. Requirements - Capacity to think critically and strategically. - Ability to travel as needed and tolerate various indoor & outdoor climate conditions. - Ability to read, write and cross functionally communicate. - Mathematical competence. - Ability to move up to 15 lbs. - Ability to operate a computer and office equipment. • Lead state-level media relations to support legislative and grassroots efforts. • Pitch and place compelling stories in local and regional media in collaboration with state leaders and government affairs firms; build and maintain strong relationships with reporters, editors, and producers. • Draft and distribute press releases, op-eds, talking points, advisories, and statements tailored to state and regional audiences. • Shape state-level messaging that aligns with the national narrative and resonates across partisan and ideological lines. • Secure press coverage of organizational milestones, legislative victories, and events. • Monitor state media coverage in target states and provide rapid response guidance as needed. • Support coordinated communications efforts across digital, social, and earned media channels. • Support spokespersons with talking points, Q&A, and message development. • Ensure consistent alignment with organizational values and national communications strategies while tailoring content for state contexts. • Review and keep current the communications materials across the organization to help ensure clarity, consistency, and alignment with American Promise messaging. • Support the Chief Communications Officer in keeping communications priorities moving on deadline across the team. • Serve as the CCO’s point of continuity for communications when the CCO is unavailable, helping ensure all communication outputs remain aligned, timely, and on-message.
