• Lead creative vision and execution across high-profile client work and new business initiatives • Partner with other Executive / Creative Directors to uphold and evolve creative standards • Provide creative oversight and feedback across multiple teams • Serve as Executive/Creative Director and project lead on assigned client work • Own creative vision, ensuring projects are visually striking and technically sound • Lead creative discovery, ideation, design direction, and reviews • Act as Creative Lead for Clients to develop understanding of brands and long-term visions • Mentor mid-level and junior designers through project feedback and career development • Represent Active Theory externally through public speaking and industry presence

• Backend development primarily in Node.js working closely with GCP and Firebase services - Cloud Functions, Cloud Firestore, Firebase Realtime Database. • Architect, prototype, scope and develop backend components for each project. • Collaborate and communicate with small, multidisciplinary teams together with frontend developers, designers, 3D artists, and producers to develop backend features. • Work independently on small to medium projects, support tech leads on small teams on larger projects. • Plan technical approach and develop custom integrations as required - such as with payments, CRM, ticketing, and content management systems such as Sanity.io. • Manage cloud infrastructure on GCP that scale. • Support live events and ensure server resources are running smoothly, load tested, and optimized for expected traffic. • Learn, champion, and build upon Medusa, our backend framework, to continually improve functionality and maintain a library of reusable modules. • Work closely with backend and platform teams to continually evolve, improve practices and processes, and drive the platform forward.

• Own the technical delivery of cutting-edge interactive web experiences for high-profile clients • Lead end-to-end project delivery in close collaboration with producers and creative leads • Own technical discovery: define approach, risks, estimates, resourcing, and integration requirements • Manage and coordinate developer teams through production — planning, delegating, and unblocking • Facilitate regular dev reviews and WIP sessions; keep delivery on track • Serve as the primary day-to-day technical partner for clients • Proactively communicate with client teams; support producers on technical and build questions • Develop and maintain web platforms using JavaScript, Vue, Node.js, and studio-standard technologies • Ensure quality across performance, analytics, SEO, security, and accessibility (WCAG)

• Architect and develop web platforms using open source technologies such as JavaScript, TypeScript, React/Vue/Svelte, Node.js, and standard tech used within the studio and our clients. • Learn and develop expertise in Hydra, Active Theory's proprietary web framework, for project-specific implementations and maintenance. • Uphold technical standards for key client partnerships and accounts. • Lead technical planning, capacity management, the technical team, and project delivery for large-scale initiatives. • Launch and deliver projects successfully, meeting project and client objectives. • Create technical documentation, information architecture and technical diagrams and be able to communicate highly technical concepts clearly to all stakeholders. • Interface directly with clients on technical requirements, integrations, and project planning. • Integrate AI workflows and manage complex backend systems. • Work with Google Cloud Platform and AWS where needed. • Manage technical areas including analytics, SEO implementation, security, and accessibility compliance. • Provide technical leadership through code reviews and team mentorship.

Job Description Active Theory is seeking a backend developer and DevOps hybrid to help build out the underlying tech infrastructure behind our Dreamwave events platform. This person will work on: Backend development primarily in Node.js working closely with GCP and Firebase services - Cloud Functions, Cloud Firestore, Firebase Realtime Database. Architect, prototype, scope and develop backend components for each project. Requirements can vary significantly with each project, particular creative execution, and technical requirements. Qualifications 3 years minimum developing secure, scalable, production ready web applications in Node.js. Experience with Google Cloud Platform and services, including Firebase - Compute Engine, Cloud Firestore, Firebase Realtime Database, Cloud Functions. Familiar with multiplayer and asynchronous concepts, state management and data flows. Experience designing and implementing database schemas for maintainability, performance, and scale. Ability to manage your time and communicate effectively while working remotely. Ability to work independently and carry a project. • Design visual and motion-based assets for PR, marketing, and studio-facing content • Support the creation of polished layouts, visuals, and short motion pieces that reflect Active Theory’s creative standards • Support pitch teams by producing layouts, UX explorations, moodboards, and motion comps • Contribute design assets to active projects under the direction of senior designers and Creative Directors • Create UX/UI layouts, visual designs, and website concepts using Figma • Produce strong typographic layouts with attention to hierarchy, spacing, and readability • Create basic motion studies and animations using Adobe After Effects • Collaborate closely with Creative Directors and designers to understand briefs and translate ideas into clear visual output • Actively seek feedback and iterate on work to improve quality and craft • Work alongside designers and developers to ensure creative alignment • Manage time effectively and deliver work within deadlines • Ask thoughtful questions to clarify briefs and expectations • Show curiosity and a desire to continuously improve design and motion skills
