Role Description - Field surveys for special-status species, natural communities, and habitats, including: - Walking transects - Walking and mapping habitat boundaries - Trapping or collecting specimens - Identifying animals by sight and sound - Perform environmental compliance monitoring at construction sites, including: - Preconstruction clearance surveys - Environmental awareness training - Coordinating with construction crews - Being responsive to changing schedules - Evaluate project plans in coordination with the task lead for determining potential impacts on special-status species and other biological resources. - Prepare daily field notes summarizing: - Field survey results - Monitoring responsibilities - Compliance with environmental permits Qualifications - Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences, Environmental Science, or other related field of study. - 1+ years of experience. - Must have valid driver’s license and successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check. Requirements - Experience conducting surveys for: - Swainson’s hawk - Burrowing owl - Valley elderberry longhorn beetle - Giant garter snake - Pond turtle - California tiger salamander - California red-legged frog - Foothill yellow-legged frog - Nesting bird/rail/raptor survey experience. - Experience with monitoring construction crews and overseeing environmental compliance. - Proficiency with data entry and formatting. - Proficiency in use of Microsoft Word and Excel. - Proficiency in use of GPS technology for navigation and data collection in the field. • Provide coordination, logistical, and programmatic support to scientific working groups and committees. • Provide end-to-end meeting coordination, including scheduling, agenda and material development, stakeholder communications, live session support, and post-meeting follow-up. • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and collaborate with team to develop and maintain SOPs as needed. • Coordinate with scientific leads to develop meeting agendas, session materials, and presentation flow aligned with working group objectives. • Manage group communications, including responding to inquiries and drafting/disseminating meeting-related communications.
