You will design, refine, and implement systems that bring creatures to life through responsive and engaging behaviors in both combat and non-combat scenarios. Your work will ensure our worlds feel alive, dynamic, and filled with opportunities for meaningful player interaction. A Day In The Life: - Prototype, iterate, and maintain creature behaviors and abilities for both combat and non-combat scenarios in an online multiplayer environment. - Own the implementation and continuous maintenance of creature behaviors using Unreal Behaviors Trees and Blackboards from prototyping to polish. - Collaborate with engineers, artists, animators, and audio designers to bring your creature designs to the player experience. You Will: - Own creatures, their abilities, and their behaviors while staying aligned with gameplay design and leadership. - Collaborate with cross-disciplinary partners to align creature design with art, narrative, 3C’s gameplay, and technical requirements. - Balance and tune difficulty and behavior to create engaging encounters for multiplayer situations. - Advocate for the player experience, ensuring creature interactions are fun, surprising, and memorable. - Partner with Animation to tune movement sets and provide pathfinding logic to ensure locomotion feels grounded and purposeful. - Act as a key bridge between Art/Animation and Engineering to troubleshoot visual state logic and optimize creature performance. You Bring: - Understanding of how players approach multiplayer play in order to create compelling and engaging creatures (and creature behaviors) that elevate the player experience. - Strong collaboration skills with the ability to communicate ideas clearly and succinctly. - Strong playtesting and iteration habits to maintain creative goals while also having a focus on how design decisions affect interpersonal player behavior and relationships. Homa is a global mobile game developer and publisher creating games people love. We partner with studios and internally develop games, having launched over 80 titles, reached over 2 billion downloads, and seen our game All in Hole break into the global top-50 grossing charts. These are milestones, not the finish line. With deep expertise in product and technology, we built Homa Lab, our proprietary platform that gives developers the market intelligence, data tools, and game tech, with AI built-in, to find product–market fit fast and scale mass-market games into lasting experiences players enjoy for years. This is our flywheel: Homa Lab helps studios spot the right ideas early, turn them into games quickly, and reach millions of players. Every launch brings back data and insights that fuel the next hit, making each turn of the loop faster, smarter, and more likely to win. AI supercharges this process, running through everything we do, from everyday tasks to our guiding principles. What powers the loop is talent density. 220+ people from 30+ nationalities, bringing expertise from the world’s best studios and companies. We uphold ambition, curiosity, humility, and focus, and deliver with speed, excellence, and candor. Since the start, we’ve raised $165M from Headline, Northzone, Eurazeo, Bpifrance, and the founders of King, Sorare, and Spotify, people who’ve built and backed the games and platforms we admire, now supporting our drive to create the next ones. At Homa, we are building the next billion-player experiences from the ground up and shaping the future of entertainment. Mission As a Senior Game Designer - Combat, you’ll play a key role in shaping the long-term depth and scalability of our character collection mobile game. You will report directly to the Design Director and own the combat systems that drive player engagement, roster strategy, and combat meta. You will partner closely with product, engineering, art, and analytics to define, evolve, and balance the combat ecosystem. Your main responsibilities will include: - Own the combat framework: define and evolve core combat rules, stats, damage formulas, scaling, and resolution systems. - Design character kits: create distinct, scalable abilities and roles that support squad-building depth and long-term expansion. - Develop systemic interactions: build and maintain elemental systems, synergies, and combat mechanics that create meaningful strategic choices. - Drive combat balance: tune and iterate using data and playtesting to maintain a healthy, evolving meta. This is a high-impact role with ownership over one of the most critical systems in the game.
