Senior Mechanical Engineer – Building Systems

• Lead mechanical design and serve as project manager for building systems projects, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems. • Develop and review construction documents, technical specifications, and cost estimates. • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements (e.g., ASHRAE, local building codes). • Manage project scope, schedule, and budgets for assigned projects. • Serve as the primary point of contact for select projects, building and maintaining strong client relationships. • Coordinate and manage multi-disciplinary design teams, including internal civil, structural, and electrical staff. • Oversee construction administration activities, including submittal review, responses to RFIs, and site visits. • Lead and participate in internal and external project meetings, maintaining clear communication with clients, consultants, and contractors. • Support proposal development, level-of-effort estimating, and project planning. • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical development within the mechanical team.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering design for building systems (HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit for MEP design.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, plumbing systems, fire protection, and applicable building codes and ASHRAE standards.
- Experience managing projects through design and construction phases.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with clients and project teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Familiarity with BIM coordination tools preferred.
- Ability to travel to job sites in CT, MA, and RI.**

• Champion Design through the lens of mechanical engineering. • Support concept development, ensuring designs are manufacturable, cost-effective, and meet customer requirements. • Conduct DFMEA, FEA, tolerance analysis, and other analytical studies with guidance from senior engineers. • Create and maintain product models and drawings using GD&T, ensuring proper datum selection, dimensioning, and tolerancing, with support from experienced engineers. • Assist in documenting project scope, requirements, feasibility, and engineering work plans. • Develop test plans (DVP&R) and analyze test results using statistical methods; perform DOE, Hypothesis Testing, and Capability Studies. • Lead root cause analysis using structured problem-solving methods like 8D, 5 Why, and Fishbone diagrams with senior guidance. • Select materials for plastic injection molded and metal stamped components.
