Database Administrator II

AMSURG Corp.

• Ensure the availability, performance, and security of SQL Server databases supporting AMSURG systems • Perform routine administration, including maintenance, upgrades, monitoring, and patching of database environments • Conduct performance tuning, query optimization, and index management to ensure system efficiency • Manage backup and recovery processes and ensure adherence to RPO/RTO requirements • Implement and maintain database security, user access, and role-based permissions • Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and development teams to resolve database-related incidents and support request tickets • Provide technical guidance during system design, integration, and architecture discussions • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders regarding issues, timelines, and impacts • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for database environments, standards, and operational procedures • Monitor system health and proactively identify issues, risks, or optimization opportunities • Follow change management, SDLC processes, and operational best practices • Participate in on-call rotation and support after-hours maintenance as needed • Stay current with emerging SQL Server features, industry best practices, and security standards • Recommend improvements to database architecture, performance, and reliability • Participate in team knowledge-sharing and process maturity efforts

Job Requirements

  • Understanding of core DBA tasks such as backups, restores, performance monitoring, indexing, query tuning, and security management
  • Familiarity with SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) and T-SQL
  • Basic scripting (i.e. PowerShell) is a plus but not required
  • Working experience SDLC processes, change management, and working within structured deployment workflows
  • Knowledge of implementing and managing Privacy, Security
  • Able to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and teammates
  • Keeps current on emerging trends and makes
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication
