Role Description We use Rust throughout our stack at Element from our SDK written in Rust through to our core Server technology Synapse. - Work on both sides of the API developing the client SDK and contributing to the migration of our server technology. - Ensure that Element's next generation of clients and servers are fast, reliable and a joy to use. - Work with our passionate and engaged open-source community. We are open to remote applications, though the core team are based in Europe and we would prefer a European (or nearby) timezone. • Own the technical direction of the system, define and evolve the architecture and make the calls on how it's built in collaboration with the CTO. • Design and build complex data and processing pipelines and workflows, particularly around 3D / visualization data. • Provide technical direction to a small cross-functional team. • Drive an AI-assisted development workflow, including multi-agent orchestration with specialized agents. • Treat the system as your own: proactively surface and drive improvements rather than waiting for assigned tasks. • Produce clean, well-tested code; review, debug, and document.
