Senior Staff Engineer – Infrastructure and Architecture

Webflow

• Partner with engineering leadership, EMs, and Product Managers to define and deliver AI products across a broad set of user scenarios. • Architect scalable, high-performance systems that support a growing number of AI-powered products. • Drive technical strategy and make architectural decisions that compound - enabling the team to ship more AI experiences faster. • Own the engineering quality, reliability, and performance of AI products as complexity and scale increase.

Job Requirements

  • BS / BA college degree or relevant experience
  • 10+ years of experience building and operating distributed systems in high-availability, customer-facing environments.
  • Architected and scaled large backend systems across multiple teams or product areas.
  • Deep expertise in distributed systems design (consistency models, fault tolerance, scaling patterns, observability).
  • Hands-on experience designing and scaling multi-region environments in AWS or GCP.
  • Strong experience with containerized systems (Kubernetes, EKS/GKE, ECS, etc.).
  • Fluent in infrastructure-as-code tooling such as Terraform or Pulumi.
  • Strong API and service architecture experience.
  • Led performance optimization efforts at scale.
  • Backend-leaning, but comfortable navigating full product stacks when necessary (TypeScript, Node, Go, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to influence technical direction beyond your immediate team.
  • Known for thoughtful system design and pragmatic decision-making.
  • Mentor senior engineers and elevate architectural thinking across an organization.
