Experience Nine (9) years experience in Software Engineering, Modern Java Frameworks and Libraries (e.g. Spring, Guava) and a Bachelors in related field; seven (7) years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and thirteen (13) years relevant experience. Required skills: - Experience building and maintaining Kubernetes deployments using tools like helm and flux - Strong Java software development experience - Experience in designing enterprise APIs - Experience in RESTful web services - Experience in Microservices architecture - Experience with the agile software lifecycle - Has a proven ability to learn quickly and works well both independently as well as in a team setting - Experience with the Linux operating system - Experience with configuration management tools (e.g. Git, Nexus, Maven) - Demonstrated experience serving as a tech lead, mentor, or manager for engineering teams - Must be able to work in a hybrid environment, spending an average of 1-2 days per week at our San Antonio, TX office - Flexibility is essential to adapt to schedule changes as needed Desired skills: - Experience in cloud based technologies (AWS, Azure) - Experience designing and writing custom kubernetes tooling like operators and custom CRDs - Experience with programming languages such as golang and python - Experience with writing automation in CI/CD tooling such as gitlabs CI pipelines - Experience in distributed databases, NoSQL databases, full text-search engines (e.g. Elasticsearch, MongoDB, Solr) - Scripting experience is a huge plus - Prior experience or familiarity with our Big Data Platform is a plus - Understanding of AGILE software development methodologies and use of standard software development tool suites. Role Description The Software Engineer III will work on a cross-functional agile team in operational tools, product, or infrastructure. You will work alongside software and production engineers to build and ship new features that will drive the growth of ACV Auctions. We value practical software experience in addition to a thorough understanding of computer science fundamentals. The technologies you are familiar with are less important to us than your ability to solve complex software problems and apply software engineering best practices. - Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience. - Design, develop, and maintain code for our web-based applications, backend services, and distributed systems. - Collaborate with software and production engineers to design scalable services, plan feature roll-out, and ensure high reliability and performance for your products. - Conduct code reviews, contribute high-quality documentation and build robust test suites for your products. - Perform other duties as assigned.
