Role Description As a Databricks Genie Engineer , you will be the driving force behind building next-generation conversational data interfaces. Your primary focus will be designing, implementing, and scaling intelligent, natural-language data assistants using Genie . You will bridge the gap between complex enterprise data warehouses and business users, enabling them to query databases using natural language. This role is a hybrid of cutting-edge Generative AI engineering and robust Data Engineering within the Databricks Lakehouse ecosystem. Key Responsibilities - Databricks Genie & Conversational AI Development (Core Focus) - Genie Space Architecture: Design, configure, and maintain high-performing Databricks Genie Spaces tailored to complex business domains. - Semantic Layer & Curation: Curate the semantic metadata, SQL queries, and golden instructions that guide Genie to ensure highly accurate, deterministic SQL generation. - Testing & Fine-Tuning: Proactively test, benchmark, and fine-tune Genie responses to handle complex business logic, edge cases, and multi-turn conversations. - Integration & Feedback: Connect Databricks Genie endpoints to custom web interfaces/external UIs and implement feedback loops to continuously improve accuracy. - GenAI & Data Engineering Support - Data Pipelines & Spark: Build and optimize data pipelines using Python, SQL, and PySpark to ensure data in Delta Lake is perfectly structured and optimized for Genie's consumption. - GenAI Orchestration: Utilize LLMs on Databricks for metadata enrichment, automated data labeling, and semantic optimization. - Collaboration & Implementation - Business Translation: Act as a translator between business users (understanding what questions they ask) and the data platform (structuring schemas so Genie can answer them easily). Qualifications - MUST HAVE - 4+ years hands-on experience with the Databricks ecosystem, with specific focus on Databricks Genie (or equivalent Text-to-SQL/semantic-layer work), Unity Catalog, and Databricks SQL/Workflows. - Expert-level SQL skills (writing complex, performant queries) and experience structuring data (star schemas, gold tables, views) to be "Genie-ready." - Strong experience in writing clean, production-grade Python code. - Strong understanding of Text-to-SQL paradigms, prompt engineering, semantic routing, and RAG architectures. - Proficiency in Apache Spark (PySpark) for data transformation and orchestration. - Experience working with REST APIs to integrate GenAI endpoints into external applications. - NICE TO HAVE - Manage model lifecycles and deploy endpoints utilizing the broader Databricks AI suite (MLflow, Databricks Model Serving). Soft Skills - Strong attention to detail, especially when auditing Genie's generated SQL for business accuracy. - Ability to communicate effectively with business stakeholders to understand their language and translate it into semantic data models. - Enthusiasm for keeping up with the rapid pace of Databricks and GenAI product updates. Benefits - Cooperation Models: - Poland: Available via Employment Contract (UoP) or B2B. - Romania/ Greece: Available via B2B only. - 100% Remote: Full flexibility to work from anywhere in Poland/ Romania / Greece. - High-End Tech: Apple MacBook Air M4 15" provided to all engineers. - Referral Bonus: Bonus for bringing other top-tier engineers to the team. - Professional Growth: - Certification Support: Coverage for all Databricks technical certifications. - Industry Leadership: Support in reaching the highest tiers of Databricks expertise (such as the Champion program) tailored to your specific career track. - Personal Branding: Opportunities to present at global industry conferences and contribute to technical thought leadership. - Expert Mentorship: Direct collaboration with Databricks MVPs and core product teams, giving you a front-row seat to the platform's evolution. Recruitment Process - Introductory Call (20 min): Short conversation with our Recruiter to discuss your background and expectations. - Technical Interview (60 min): Deep dive into your technical skills with our engineering team. - Optional Client Interview: Required only in specific cases. - Decision & Offer: We aim to close the process and provide feedback efficiently.

Role Description The engagement supports a maintenance assessment and advisory for a legacy mainframe environment built primarily on COBOL, running mission-critical batch and online workloads. The objective is to establish a fact-based understanding of the current application estate and its support model, and to define a scoped, low risk maintenance pilot as the basis for a potential longer term managed services engagement. - The initial advisory phase is an assessment structured in three stages: - A scope-alignment workshop to agree services, ownership, and boundaries; - A current-state assessment of the code estate, data, batch/online flows, operations, and ticket history to establish baselines and pain points; - A pilot-identification stage to prioritize candidate use cases and define objectives and success metrics. - The phase is diagnostic in nature - it covers evaluation, characterization, and effort estimation only, with no code remediation or production changes performed during assessment. - Success depends heavily on timely access to client subject-matter experts and to the target environment. Qualifications - Deep mainframe experience on COBOL-based estates. - Hands-on experience with Hitachi VOS-family mainframes and the XDM/DCCM3 and XDM/RD stack (or demonstrable deep equivalence from IBM CICS/IMS-DC and DB2, with willingness to ramp on the Hitachi dialect). - Proven ability to characterize a multi-million-LOC estate across online, batch, data, and integration tiers and translate it into complexity and criticality assessments. - Experience defining maintenance or support operating models (roles, SLAs, runbooks, escalation) for legacy systems. - Able to critically validate AI-generated analysis against source code and SME input before it informs decisions. - Able to lead technical discovery and deep-dives directly with client subject-matter experts. - Strong stakeholder-facing communication, including presenting findings and recommendations to senior audiences. Requirements - Own the technical discovery and characterization of the legacy mainframe COBOL estate. - Produce complexity, criticality, and maintainability assessments of applications, batch flows, and integrations. - Map application, data, and batch dependencies to identify risks and single points of failure. - Oversee AI-assisted analysis and validate machine-generated findings against source and SME input before use. - Define the proposed target maintenance operating model and support approach. - Scope and prioritize candidate use cases for a subsequent maintenance pilot. - Direct the work of the team and consolidate outputs into architectural findings. - Present assessment outcomes, risks, and recommendations to client and internal stakeholders. Benefits - Empowering Projects: With 500+ clients spanning diverse industries and domains, we provide an exciting opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking projects that leverage cutting-edge technologies. - Empowering Growth: We foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development, providing timely and comprehensive assistance for every consultant through our dedicated Learning & Development team. - DE&I Matters: At GlobalLogic, we deeply value and embrace diversity, providing equal opportunities for all individuals and fostering an inclusive and empowering work environment. - Career Development: Our corporate culture places a strong emphasis on career development, offering abundant opportunities for growth and regular interactions with our teams. - Comprehensive Benefits: We provide a comprehensive benefits package that prioritizes the overall well-being of our consultants. - Flexible Opportunities: We prioritize work-life balance by offering flexible opportunities tailored to your lifestyle, including relocation and rotation options for diverse cultural and professional experiences.
