Role Description To strengthen our international team in Germany, we are offering a remote position starting immediately. If you are based outside of Germany, you need to be able to offer your services as a freelancer in the country you are based in. You need to be able to work Berlin time zone (CET / CEST). We’re building a next-generation retail media platform that processes millions of events per day in near real time. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you’ll design, implement, and own critical services in Go that power our large-scale distributed systems. - Design and implement robust, scalable features and enhancements to our platform, with Go (Golang) as your primary language. - Build and maintain our high-performance retail media platform, addressing near real-time requirements and large-scale data computation challenges. - Collaborate closely with Product and Frontend teams to deliver innovative, end-to-end solutions in a fast-moving, agile environment. - Mentor other engineers, promoting clean, maintainable, and high-quality code. - Contribute to architectural decisions to ensure scalability, reliability, and consistency across distributed systems. - Ensure best practices in testing, automation, and CI/CD workflows. Qualifications - Proven backend engineering experience with deep expertise in Golang, especially around concurrency, performance, and low-level system design. - Strong background in building and optimizing high-performance, multi-threaded applications. - Hands-on experience with container technologies like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes. - Experience working with cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or Amazon Web Services (AWS). - Solid understanding of database systems, both SQL and NoSQL. - Enjoy mentoring team members and helping others grow through technical guidance and knowledge sharing. • Design and build the backend services that power Operator • Develop scalable retrieval systems that connect engineering knowledge across design reviews, notebooks, search, and other product surfaces • Build APIs and services that enable AI-powered experiences throughout the platform • Improve search quality, data pipelines, and knowledge retrieval performance • Expand Operator's capabilities to support intelligent reporting, dashboards, and engineering insights • Design systems that organize company knowledge across business units, engineering domains, and manufacturing processes • Collaborate closely with AI, Product, Design, and Engineering to deliver customer-facing capabilities • Improve reliability, observability, and performance across backend infrastructure • Mentor teammates through architecture discussions, code reviews, and technical leadership
