Software Expert (Scientific and Analytical)

Weekday (YC W21)

This role is for one of our clients Compensation: $0-$100 per hour Location: Remote (must have access to a physical Mac) Fluent Language Skills Required: English We are supporting a high-priority data collection initiative designed to improve how AI systems interpret complex software interfaces and real-world, multi-step professional workflows. Current datasets often lack the precision and expert grounding required to reflect authentic usage of advanced scientific and analytical tools. This project addresses that gap by collecting high-quality screen recordings and detailed interface annotations from experienced professionals working in live digital environments.

Job Requirements

  • What You’ll Do
  • Depending on the project phase, you may be responsible for one or both of the following:
  • Record screen sessions demonstrating specific software tasks, with clear verbal narration explaining each step and decision
  • Annotate screenshots by drawing accurate bounding boxes around relevant UI elements
  • Follow detailed staging instructions to configure specific interface states before recording
  • Use a custom capture tool to document workflows consistently and accurately
  • Adhere strictly to project guidelines to ensure high-quality, structured data output
  • Required Expertise
  • You should have strong familiarity with professional scientific and analytical software tools such as:
  • MATLAB

  • Additionally, you should:
  • Be highly detail-oriented and comfortable following precise technical instructions
  • Be able to work independently and meet tight deadlines
  • Have access to a physical Mac device and be willing to create a fresh macOS user profile if required
