Associate Project Manager
VeryIoT technology firm led by expert problem-solvers that create solutions that move IoT projects from pilot to production.
Role Description A Project Manager at Very plays a central role in ensuring our teams deliver on that promise. You’ll coordinate software, hardware, design, and data engineering efforts to keep programs running smoothly and predictably. You’ll help keep the team aligned, the client informed, and the delivery on track. As an Associate Project Manager, you’ll join a team that takes client success personally. You’ll learn how to manage timelines, scope, and communication across complex technical projects — from connected devices to custom digital platforms. You’ll be supported by senior program leaders but will be expected to take real ownership early, learning how to create structure, bring clarity, and drive progress. Success in this role means communicating proactively and ensuring our clients always have the context they need to make informed decisions. You’ll help build confidence through transparency, accuracy, and follow-through. This is not an easy role. You’ll be managing ambiguity, solving problems in real time, and supporting teams that move fast. But if you find satisfaction in building systems that work, communicating with precision, and helping clients win — you’ll love it here. As a client services organization, travel may be required up to 10% of the time. What You’ll Be Working On - Support multiple engineering and design teams, ensuring alignment on goals, priorities, and deliverables. - Maintain schedules, track dependencies, and help manage program risks. - Communicate clearly and proactively with clients — ensuring they always have the right information to stay confident in the project’s direction. - Learn to balance scope, budget, and timelines under real-world constraints. - Partner with senior project and program managers to strengthen Very’s delivery practices. - Help facilitate sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives. - Support proposal development and planning for upcoming client engagements. Outcomes - Project Visibility: Maintain clear, accurate progress tracking across all assigned client projects. - Delivery Confidence: Support the delivery team in achieving on-time, high-quality outcomes that meet or exceed client expectations. - Operational Clarity: Communicate proactively so clients always have the information and context they need — and never feel out of the loop. - Professional Growth: Develop the communication, planning, and leadership skills required to manage your own programs within 12–18 months. - Client Trust: Build credibility with clients through responsiveness, organization, and consistent follow-through. Responsibilities - Support project planning, coordination, and execution across multiple technical disciplines. - Maintain documentation, schedules, and deliverable trackers for assigned engagements. - Communicate clearly with clients and internal teams on status, blockers, and next steps. - Proactively surface risks or scope changes — and communicate them early to maintain alignment. - Participate in client and internal project meetings; capture actions and ensure follow-through. - Learn and apply Very’s standard delivery frameworks for agile, iterative work. - Participate in retrospectives and help identify process improvements. Minimum Qualifications - Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. - Experience: 0–2 years of professional experience in a technical or project environment (internships and capstone projects count). - Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Comfortable working in fast-paced, client-facing environments. - Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively on cross-functional teams. - Ability to work with modern AI-based tools. - Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with modern engineering workflows (Git, Agile tools, cloud services). - Ability to learn and communicate technical concepts quickly. - Proficiency in Google Workspace and common project management tools (Jira, Notion, etc.). Skills - Client Obsessed: Ensures clients always have the right information, context, and confidence in delivery. - Communicates Clearly: Translates complexity into clarity for both internal and external stakeholders. - Thrives in the Grind: Finds satisfaction in the details that make complex work run smoothly. - Learns Relentlessly: Grows fast, asks good questions, and applies lessons quickly. - Brings Structure: Creates order and clarity in dynamic, technical environments. Compensation - Base Compensation: USD $72,500 per year, commensurate with experience. - Variable Compensation: Up to 5%. Perks & Benefits - 401k match - Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance - $200/mo cell/internet stipend - $600/yr home office equipment stipend - Paid parental leave (95th percentile in the U.S.) - Continuing education stipend ($2,500/yr after one year) - Loaned MacBook Pro and other necessary equipment Important - We don't currently provide Visa Sponsorship.
