Role Description We are seeking an experienced Staff Software Engineer to provide deep technical leadership across multiple teams and drive the design and execution of complex, cross-cutting engineering initiatives. As a Staff engineer you will be a key technical voice in shaping architecture, raising the engineering bar, and helping the organization deliver ambitious technical roadmaps. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical depth with strong organizational judgment, and will be comfortable operating at the intersection of strategy, architecture, and hands-on execution. - Lead the design and execution of large, complex, cross-team engineering initiatives. - Develop architectural standards and reference patterns adopted across multiple engineering teams. - Mentor senior engineers and influence the technical direction of the organization. - Lead detailed technical design reviews and architectural decision-making for high-impact initiatives, ensuring designs are well-scoped, trade-offs are made explicit, and outcomes are documented for future reference. - Operate at the intersection of strategy and execution, translating long-term goals into concrete engineering plans. - Drive significant improvements in reliability, scalability, and performance of critical platforms. - Lead production incident response and post-incident learning for major issues. - Partner with engineering managers, product, and executives on technical roadmaps. - Set and uphold the engineering hiring bar through technical interviews, structured calibration, and contributions to recruiting initiatives that grow the team without diluting quality. - Contribute hands-on code where most leveraged, focusing on high-impact components. - Drive engineering culture, including code quality, documentation, and operational rigor. - Represent engineering in cross-functional planning, prioritization, and roadmap discussions, helping product, design, and business stakeholders make informed decisions grounded in real technical trade-offs. - Author and review technical RFCs, architecture decision records, and design documents that crystallize key technical decisions and create durable institutional memory across the engineering organization. Qualifications - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline. - Eight or more years of professional software engineering experience. - Proven track record of leading complex, cross-team engineering initiatives. - Deep expertise in at least one of distributed systems, cloud platforms, or large-scale data systems. - Strong programming skills in at least one major backend language. - Excellent system-design and architecture skills. - Demonstrated mentorship and technical leadership of senior engineers. - Strong understanding of operational excellence, reliability, and observability. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Track record of influencing engineering culture and standards. Preferred Qualifications - Experience driving multi-year platform modernization initiatives. - Public technical contributions (talks, papers, OSS) in relevant areas. - Hands-on experience operating large-scale production systems. - Exposure to building engineering organizations as well as platforms. - Familiarity with FinOps and cost-aware engineering practices. • Develop frontend and backend features for Akash Console - the primary deployment console used by customers and users of Akash.Network • Build and maintain public APIs and SDKs for partners at https://console-api.akash.network/v1/swagger, https://github.com/akash-network/akash-api, https://github.com/akash-network/akashjs and more • Work on automated tests and build (CI/ CD) automation • Interface with customers looking to integrate with Akash • Participate in technical discussions on public community forums like Discord, Github and other places • Identify areas of improvement in terms of issues/bugs, as well as process improvements

• Collaborate with our Business Operations, Development and other Partners to drive the creation and enhancement of a standardized data source • Oversee all aspects of the development for assigned projects, from gathering and refining requirements all the way through deployment • Manage the project backlog, including grooming Features, Product Backlog Items, Tasks and Bugs • Assign tasks to the Development team with defined deliverables and deadlines • Clear roadblocks to allow the Development team to run as efficiently as possible • Apply sound software engineering processes, including iterative development, unit testing, source code control, inspections and reviews, while leveraging AI-assisted tools • Learn our business model and understand existing enterprise applications
