Job Description

Business Developer

Tandem

• As a Business Developer for Tandem, together with a Junior Partner Manager, you’ll be responsible to build and maintain partnerships with educational institutions and grow our community. • Ownership & Performance: Own and consistently achieve monthly and quarterly partnership and growth targets (e.g. number of active partners, revenue). Take full responsibility for results, from pipeline generation to signed partnerships to activation and ongoing performance. Monitor performance closely, identify gaps, and proactively adjust strategy and execution to meet or exceed targets. Build scalable processes and playbooks to continuously improve efficiency and outcomes. • Outreach & Partnerships: Proactively identify, prioritize, and close partnerships with integration course providers, language schools, JobCenters, Studentenwerke and university language centers. Drive the full sales cycle end-to-end: prospecting, outreach, pitching, negotiation, and closing. Clearly communicate the value of Tandem across channels (email, phone, in-person, and online meetings) with a strong focus on conversion. • Relationship Management: Own and maintain a high-quality, up-to-date pipeline of prospects and active partners in the CRM. Serve as the primary point of contact for partners, with a strong focus on driving usage, retention, and expansion. Regularly review partner performance and identify opportunities to grow each account (more users, deeper integration, additional programs). Hold partners accountable where needed to ensure mutual success.

Job Requirements

  • Are a communicative team player with an excellent command of written and spoken English.
  • Have a background in sales, partnerships, or working with non-profit organisations.
  • Have experience with sales tools, project management, or CRM systems.
  • Enjoy reaching out to people and are comfortable with both email and phone conversations.
  • Have a friendly, outgoing personality and a talent for building relationships.
  • Bring strong intercultural communication skills and enjoy working with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • German language skills are a plus.

Benefits

  • Passion for languages: We’re a team of 35 people speaking 20 languages fluently between us.
  • Take a deep dive: As a Tandem team member, we’ll give you a budget for up to 6 “Deep Dive Days” per year. Pick a topic you’ve always wanted to explore for your professional development that has never made it out of your backlog. Then book a cabin in the woods or whatever matches your individual learning style.
  • Teams who train together, stay together: We offer Urban Sports Club gym memberships to boost our team’s physical and mental health. We also contribute to your monthly public transport ticket instead.
  • It takes a team to Tandem: Bonding with our teammates outside of our normal work routine is important to us. We organize regular team events: from day trips to monthly lunches, summer BBQs, and movie nights.
  • Balance matters: Life isn’t just about work. We know when to snooze Slack notifications, recharge our batteries, and take time out for our personal hobbies. As home office has become the new normal for some of us, it’s even more important to be able to switch off from work and relax.
  • Modern family: As part of our family-friendly company philosophy, we embrace flexible working hours, welcome families to our events, and love for our kids to visit the office and get a taste of life at Tandem.
  • Remote work with team spirit: Enjoy the flexibility of a fully remote position within Germany without sacrificing personal interaction. You'll travel to Berlin for regular team days and workshops to work alongside the team and experience our culture firsthand. Travel and accommodation are, of course, covered by us.
