Role Description We are looking for highly talented and driven software engineers who take pride in their work, to expand our Engineering team in London. Successful candidates will join a cross functional team including product managers and designers working closely with the rest of our business to deliver working code that solves real problems for both internal and external customers. What you’ll do - Design solutions: Define the best technical solutions to business problems, contributing to an architectural vision that will scale up to be the world's leading research platform. - Ship working code: We primarily work with React on the frontend and Kotlin microservices with Postgres on the backend, with some older services written in Ruby on Rails. We’ve always got an eye open to assess new technologies that might improve our stack. - Deploy and iterate: We release frequently to our customers, using CIrcleCI and Spinnaker for CI/CD, and quickly gather feedback in order to inform our next iteration. - Build your competency: You will learn quickly by building market-leading technology with experienced colleagues in a high performance environment. Engineers can also use our L&D budget to fast-track development of specific technical competencies. - Maintenance and troubleshooting: Carefully monitor our services, catching errors before users notice them, diagnosing the root cause and deploying fixes. • Lead the design, development, and delivery of enterprise-grade applications using Java and Angular. • Drive continuous product development, feature enhancements, and technical improvements across multiple applications. • Design and implement scalable integrations between internal and external systems. • Lead application refactoring and modernization initiatives to improve performance, maintainability, and scalability. • Develop and maintain backend services, APIs, and frontend components. • Support the implementation of event-driven solutions and messaging-based architectures using Kafka. • Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex production and application issues. • Collaborate with architects, product owners, and stakeholders to define technical solutions and roadmaps. • Mentor development teams, conduct code reviews, and promote engineering best practices. • Contribute to architectural decisions and ensure alignment with enterprise standards. • Participate in Agile ceremonies and support the delivery of high-quality software throughout the SDLC. • Ensure code quality, security, reliability, and performance through testing and continuous improvement practices.

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and integration solutions using Java. • Implement and support REST-based APIs and event-driven integrations using Kafka. • Contribute to the development of new product modules and enhancements within existing platforms. • Participate in the integration of enterprise applications and business-critical systems. • Develop and optimize database components, including SQL and PL/SQL procedures. • Support SCP Cluster-related development and implementation activities. • Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve application and integration issues. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, develop, and deliver technical solutions. • Contribute to application modernization initiatives and the adoption of modern technologies. • Ensure high standards of code quality, performance, and maintainability.

• Own and maintain our Java client library, ensuring it is robust, well-tested, and easy for external users to integrate with. • Design, develop, and maintain high-performance server applications in C/C++. • Write message parsers and feed handlers for direct market data feeds from trading venues. • Optimize existing codebase for high throughput (millions of messages per second, up to 40+ gigabits) and low latency (measured in nanoseconds). • Implement tools and libraries for petabyte-scale data processing and analysis. • Collaborate with the systems team to implement best practices for build, deployment, CI/CD. • Implement monitoring and improve application uptime. • Ensure smooth feature rollouts and updates.
