Job Requirements
- Strong experience with Java/Kotlin and Spring Boot
- Intermediate knowledge of React, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript and Design Systems
- Experience with microservices, REST APIs and distributed/event-driven architectures
- Experience with messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ or similar)
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS or GCP), including managed services and serverless
- Proficient with Git and code review practices
- Knowledge of quality best practices (TDD, BDD and Unit Testing)
- Knowledge of information security (OWASP Top 10, OAuth, JWT, encryption)
- Experience with monitoring and the ability to perform root cause analysis

Role Description SmartCommerce is looking for a Senior Software Backend Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems spanning database architecture, middle-tier services, and data processing/ETL pipelines that power our commerce platform and client integrations. This role combines deep backend engineering with hands-on data engineering and stream processing responsibility, and serves as a senior technical contributor and production support owner for the systems they build.
