Job Description

BSA/AML Officer

HFD

• Develop, implement, and maintain HFD's written BSA/AML compliance program, policies, procedures, and internal controls. • Conduct periodic reviews and updates to align with current regulatory requirements. • Oversee the monitoring of customer transactions for unusual or suspicious activities. • Ensure the timely and accurate completion and reporting of all Questionable Activity Reports (QARs) including oversight of the QAR Committee, reporting to our sponsor bank, and reporting to HFD’s Compliance Committee. • Participate in the efforts to prevent and detect fraudulent activities that may have BSA/AML implications. • Conduct periodic, comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential money laundering and terrorist financing risks across all products, services, and customer types. • Manage the Customer Identification Program (CIP) and CDD processes, including verifying customer identities and assessing risk profiles at account opening and throughout the relationship. • Develop and deliver ongoing BSA/AML/OFAC training to all employees, relevant management, and the Board of Directors to ensure awareness and compliance with regulatory obligations. • Act as the primary liaison for internal auditors, independent state and federal auditors, and regulatory examiners on BSA/AML matters. • Coordinate responses to audits and examinations and ensure identified deficiencies are addressed. • Serve as the main point of contact for legal requests, such as subpoenas and garnishments, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders for timely and legally compliant responses.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree, or a minimum of 5 years’ financial institution experience required in a lead BSA role
  • Sensitivity to confidential matters and ability to exercise discretion
  • CAMS certification
  • Knowledge of payments systems – ACH, wires, etc.
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong research skills
  • Must be a team player and possess a high energy “can do” attitude
  • Ability to multitask and excel in a fast-paced environment
  • Skills required: excellent analytical abilities, strong communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.

Here is a taster of what you can expect in this role: - Under the guidance of the Senior AML Operations Manager and the AMLCO (or delegate), oversee and review ALH's AML/CTF Program and associated policies and procedures. - Review and maintenance of AML compliance materials, including training documentation and internal communications to ensure obligations/responsibilities are accurately understood and communicated across the business - Comply with relevant regulatory requirements and ALH's internal policies and guidelines - In close consultation with the ALH Compliance Team, oversee and manage AML compliance controls development, testing and reporting - Engage in Customer Due Diligence process for onboarding, periodic review and trigger event review. - Conduct AML investigations as appropriate - Conduct ongoing and enhanced customer due diligence requirements including but not limited to politically exposed persons and adverse media screening, CCTV footage reviews and transaction enquiries. - Serve as the primary operational point of Senior Manager escalation for complex AML cases and prepare packs for the Senior AML Operations manager to escalate to Senior Management on retain or ban decision. - Conduct rigorous Enhanced Customer Due Diligence (ECDD) by reconstructing and verifying a client's Source of Wealth (SoW) over time, ensuring a clear distinction from transactional Source of Funds (SoF). - Must be able to differentiate SoW from Source of Funds (SoF) to ensure all accumulated net worth is tied to legitimate economic activities and free from financial crime risk.
