Role Description The Sr Collector is responsible for administering all activities related to the collection of consumer, real estate, and commercial loans to ensure that overall delinquencies and loan losses incurred by Thrivent Financial Credit Union are maintained in accordance with peer performance and the risk profile of the institution. The Sr Collector is responsible for coaching and mentoring Collectors I and II. Duties & Responsibilities: - Maintain delinquencies in accordance with peer performance and the risk profile of the bank. - Maintain effective communication with customers in an attempt to resolve poor credit performance. - Pursue the recovery of charge-off loans. - Document all activity taken to collect non-performing loans or assets. - Participate in regular assessments of the bank’s asset quality, including the review of classified loans, as well as those assets which should be charged off. - Assist third party service providers who are hired to pursue the collection of non-performing loans and assets. - Attend internal and external training programs related to collections. - Participate in the training of new collectors. - Perform other collection-related tasks, as assigned or requested. This role will interact with individual contributors within Thrivent, external vendors, contractors and/or consultants, and Thrivent clients. Qualifications - High school education with 5-7 years of related collections experience. - Proficient knowledge of federal and state law related to the collection of nonperforming assets. - Understanding of the regulatory process regarding collateral repossession, foreclosures, and bankruptcy proceedings. Requirements - Work independently on assigned projects after receiving initial direction from supervisor. - Prioritize multiple tasks, focusing efforts on those nonperforming assets that pose the greatest risk to the financial institution. - Effectively communicate through written and oral skills. - Exercise flexibility and innovativeness to accomplish the goals of the Collections Department. Qualifications - Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. - Computer literate. - Knowledge of Medicare, State Programs, and commercial billing. - Must read, write and speak fluent English. - Must have good and regular attendance. Requirements - High School Diploma or Equivalent including education equivalent to completion of secondary school or demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the role.
