Senior DevOps Engineer

• You work closely with our clients from industry, the public sector and academia on demanding infrastructure projects, from planning through to stable operation. • You take on the architecture, setup and further development of cloud and on‑premises infrastructures, including public cloud environments such as AWS, Azure and GCP as well as platforms like Kubernetes and OpenShift. • You operate and maintain existing systems and data center infrastructures, including hybrid and multi‑cloud setups. • You analyze existing architectures and support the migration and modernization of legacy environments. • You set up GitOps and CI/CD workflows (e.g. with ArgoCD, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps) and guide our clients in automating their development and operational processes. • You provide consultancy on current technologies and best practices, particularly in containerization, cloud‑native tools and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible). • You contribute conceptually to topics such as network design, storage architectures (e.g. Ceph, ODF, NFS) and security standards (BSI, ISO27001, IAM, PKI). • If desired, you will also support clients on‑site in Germany and assist our colleagues in the team with your expertise.
Job Requirements
- At least 6 years of professional experience in DevOps, infrastructure or Site Reliability Engineering
- Experience with cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, GCP
- Strong knowledge of Kubernetes and OpenShift
- Hands-on experience with one or more CI/CD tools: Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or similar
- Familiarity with logging and monitoring systems such as ELK, Datadog, Prometheus, New Relic, or similar
- Strong knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, Puppet)
- Solid understanding of networking (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewalls, etc.)
- Experience with storage systems such as Ceph, MinIO, etc.
- Knowledge of security standards and compliance (e.g. BSI, ISO27001, PKI, IAM)
- Proficient in at least one programming language, e.g. Java, Python, Go, Node.js or TypeScript
- Motivation to continuously develop professionally and learn new technologies
- Fluent German and English skills.

• design and build the infrastructure primitives that define how our CI/CD platform, build systems, and developer environments scale across the entire engineering org. • help build and operate the Kubernetes-based control plane behind our CI/CD platform, including: - GitHub Actions self-hosted runner infrastructure (autoscaling, isolation, cost/perf tuning) - GitHub Apps and GitHub-as-code (permissions, webhooks, org-wide automation) - Secure network access for CI/CD and remote dev environments (Tailscale) - GitOps-driven deployment of platform services (Flux) - Ephemeral/on-demand developer environments and build systems • develop the core infrastructure components — including Kubernetes Operators and scaling automation — that product teams adopt directly, reducing bespoke per-team CI/CD and environment tooling. • building the systems that define how engineering teams build, test, and deploy, shaping the reliability and scalability of the developer experience org-wide.
