• Design, develop, and maintain client-side applications for an instant messaging platform, with Android as the primary focus • Build core messaging features: real-time chat, group chat, media messaging, message sync, offline messaging, push notifications • Participate in client-side architecture design, ensuring consistent UX across Android, iOS, and Web • Use AI-powered tools (Cursor, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, etc.) to support cross-stack frontend development — read, debug, and modify iOS/Web codebases • Integrate RESTful APIs and WebSocket/MQTT/gRPC real-time communication protocols • Handle local storage, offline-first experience, message state management, and cross-platform sync logic • Optimize client performance: startup speed, memory, battery, network efficiency, UI responsiveness • Collaborate with backend teams on API design, integration, and production issue investigation • Senior level: mentor junior engineers, contribute to technical design decisions

• Design, develop, and continuously optimize Android-side camera, video, and image recognition related products; participate in building and iterating on-device capabilities. • Handle Android ecosystem fragmentation and low-end device adaptation, optimizing performance, memory, and stability to ensure reliable operation across diverse devices. • Design and implement on-device capture workflows, ensuring stability and compatibility. • Build on-device environment detection and adaption capabilities. • Collaborate with Product, Backend, Algorithm, and other teams to deliver the full on-device pipeline end-to-end. • Participate in technical design reviews, code reviews, on-device engineering practices, and troubleshooting of critical issues.

Role Description We're looking for a Principal Android Engineer to lead the technical direction of our Android POS platform. This is a highly impactful leadership role responsible for the architecture, stability, and long-term evolution of one of Nomni's most strategic products. You'll combine deep technical expertise with hands-on engineering and mentorship to elevate both the platform and the engineering team. This is not a people management role alone—it is a technical leadership position for someone who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges while raising the engineering bar across the organization. - Own the technical architecture and long-term health of the Android POS platform. - Drive platform stability, performance, scalability, and reliability. - Lead the delivery of key Android capabilities while maintaining high engineering standards. - Partner with Product, Design, QA, Infrastructure, and Platform Engineering to deliver customer-focused solutions. - Reduce technical debt and establish sustainable architectural patterns. - Guide the team toward feature parity with iOS while improving platform quality. - Mentor senior engineers and help grow technical capability across the Android team. - Establish engineering best practices, code quality standards, testing strategies, and development processes. - Lead technical investigations and resolve complex production issues. - Influence engineering strategy and contribute to technology decisions across Nomni. Qualifications - Extensive professional Android development experience building large-scale production applications. - Expert knowledge of Kotlin and modern Android architecture. - Strong understanding of Android SDK, Jetpack libraries, Coroutines, Flow, and dependency injection. - Experience designing scalable, maintainable mobile architectures. - Proven ability to lead technical direction on complex engineering projects. - Strong understanding of software design principles, testing, performance optimization, and CI/CD. - Experience mentoring senior engineers and driving engineering excellence. - Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
