Role Description We are seeking a PLM Engineer with deep experience operating either PTC Windchill or Siemens Teamcenter (preferably both) in large enterprise environments. In this role you will own the technical operation of the PLM platform — installation, configuration, performance tuning, upgrades, integrations, and high availability — and partner with functional, engineering, and manufacturing teams to deliver a reliable, performant, and secure PLM ecosystem. The ideal candidate will bring strong PLM administration fundamentals, hands-on experience with PLM upgrades and migrations, and a measurement-driven approach to platform reliability. Key Responsibilities - Install, configure, and operate Windchill or Teamcenter environments across development, test, and production. - Lead PLM upgrades, patches, and platform migrations with minimal disruption. - Manage PLM application servers, web servers, database connectivity, and method servers. - Operate file vaults, replication services, and CAD data management subsystems. - Implement and tune HA/DR strategies for PLM environments, applying disciplined engineering practices and partnering closely with stakeholders to ensure outcomes are durable, well-documented, and aligned with broader team and platform standards. - Optimize PLM performance through query tuning, caching, indexing, and JVM tuning. - Manage user provisioning, security configurations, and audit support, applying disciplined engineering practices and partnering closely with stakeholders to ensure outcomes are durable, well-documented, and aligned with broader team and platform standards. - Operate PLM integration brokers and middleware connectors, applying disciplined engineering practices and partnering closely with stakeholders to ensure outcomes are durable, well-documented, and aligned with broader team and platform standards. - Develop automation scripts using shell, Python, or Ansible to reduce operational toil. - Monitor PLM health using native tooling and integrated observability platforms. - Provide hands-on post-go-live and hypercare support, working closely with operations teams to triage incidents quickly, identify root causes, and drive durable fixes that improve long-term system stability. - Maintain comprehensive, current technical documentation — including architecture diagrams, design decisions, configuration references, runbooks, and operational procedures — so that the system remains supportable, auditable, and easy to onboard new engineers onto over time. - Mentor and coach junior and mid-level engineers through code review, design review, pair programming, and structured knowledge sharing, helping the broader team grow in technical maturity and confidence over time. - Drive continuous improvement of the PLM platform, applying disciplined engineering practices and partnering closely with stakeholders to ensure outcomes are durable, well-documented, and aligned with broader team and platform standards. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline. - Five or more years of PLM platform administration experience. - Hands-on experience with either PTC Windchill or Siemens Teamcenter in production. - Strong experience with PLM upgrades and migrations. - Working knowledge of Oracle and SQL Server database administration. - Strong Linux/Unix administration skills. - Experience operating HA/DR for PLM environments. - Familiarity with PLM integration brokers and middleware. - Scripting skills in shell, Python, or Ansible. - Excellent troubleshooting and documentation skills. Title: Senior Platform Engineer- San Francisco HQ Location HQ-San Francisco Employment Type Full time Location Type Hybrid Department Engineering Compensation $195K – $265K • Offers Equity Job Description: About Orb: We’re a team that cares deeply about the work, the people we do it with, and the customers we do it for. Everyone at Orb has real ownership over their work, direct access to customers, and a voice in how the company grows. We’re building the revenue design platform that helps teams automate billing, evolve pricing, and grow revenue with confidence. Looking ahead, joining forces with Adyen expands what we can build and raises the ceiling on the problems we get to solve for customers. The challenges are uniquely interesting, and you’ll be surrounded by thoughtful, ambitious people who move fast and hold a high bar. For San Francisco Bay Area , New York, and Amsterdam residents, we've built a hybrid work culture where we are in office 3 days/week. For remote roles, we ask you to join us in person 1x per quarter. Our values, customer centricity, minutes matter, run with it, attention to detail, and go further together are at the core of everything we do. About the role: As a senior engineer on our platform team, you'll build the platform that lets Orb's engineers — and, increasingly, AI agents — ship quickly and safely. That spans two layers: the infrastructure and developer platform (CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, build systems, developer sandboxes and preview environments, and the observability that keeps our on-call humane), and the application platform — the framework primitives and abstractions that let product engineers build quickly and with high quality. This is a founding, high-autonomy role on a small and growing team, with room to shape both the technical direction and how AI-assisted development works at Orb. In this role you will: - Own and evolve our developer platform — CI/CD (including safe, progressive delivery), infrastructure-as-code, and the build system across a large multi-service codebase - Build the application-platform primitives — frameworks, abstractions, and paved paths — that let product engineers ship quickly and with high quality - Build tooling that lets engineers and AI agents develop against production-like environments quickly and safely: sandboxes, preview environments, and fast feedback loops - Improve developer-facing observability and on-call health: better signal, fewer pages, faster diagnosis - Push forward our investment in AI-assisted, agent-driven development — the primitives that make it effective and safe - Partner with security to make our infrastructure and workflows safe by default About you: - 5+ years of experience in software engineering, including owning a developer or application platform (or core infrastructure) at meaningful scale - Deep hands-on experience with AWS, infrastructure-as-code (Terraform or similar), containers, and CI/CD - You've built platforms other engineers rely on, and you care about their reliability and day-to-day experience - You take open-ended, ambiguous problems, define them yourself, and drive multi-quarter initiatives to completion with minimal oversight - Excited about AI-assisted and agent-driven development, and want to help define what it looks like in a real engineering organization Orb’s Tech Stack: At Orb, we believe great engineers can learn any stack, so you do not need experience with these specific tools, and we encourage you to apply regardless. - Frontend: Typescript + React + Tailwind CSS - Backend: Python - Datastores: PostgreSQL + Apache Druid+ Clickhouse - Streaming Platforms: Kafka + Spark Streaming - Cloud Platform: AWS
Benefits: - Excellent medical, dental, and vision insurance - One Medical membership - Unlimited PTO plus an additional week off between Christmas and New Year’s - 401k plan - 16-week paid parental leave with equity vesting - Commuter stipend - Catered lunches in the office - Annual learning & development stipend - Meaningful equity in the form of stock options Equal Opportunity Employer We work with each other day in and day out, and strongly believe that building a diverse and inclusive team is key to our long-term goals and success as a company. We provide equal employment opportunities to all applicants without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by law.
