Zero Overview Zero is a creative studio founded in NYC. We have offices in New York, Milwaukee, Los Angeles as well as working virtually across the world. Position Overview As a Designer at Zero, your primary focus is to develop thoughtful, original ideas that are on strategy. You conceptualize the emotional “why” behind brands and how to express it across all creative mediums. From brand worlds to websites, social platforms and marketing channels, you’re responsible for creating design work that speaks the brand’s language and offers a fresh perspective within the brand’s industry. Whether developing the visual brand tone or working within a set of established guidelines, you are able to plug into the brand mindset and articulate it. You have the skills and understanding to properly execute on typography, color theory, layout and art direction, as well as the ability to develop effective visual communication to fit a variety of brands. Roles & Responsibilities Contribute to the research and discovery phase through competitive audits, research, and any additional tactics that add value Develop holistic brand strategies that are unique to the market, true to the audience and genuine to the beliefs and vision of the brand Collaborate with the team to develop presentations that clearly and effectively tell the story of our work and regularly present the work to our clients Develop effective designs and art direction that deliver on the brand strategies, are unique to the market and genuine to the beliefs and vision of the brand Collaborate closely with copywriters and developers on brand applications such as branding, art direction, packaging, website, emails, social media content and other mediums to support the brand world. Work closely with Creative Directors and PMs to develop designs and a systematic approach to the design language across mediums Effectively manage your time to meet internal deadlines and goals Approach every project with a solutions oriented mindset, clear purpose and ensure all executions meet business and user goals Occasionally contribute to conversations with outside collaborators such as photographers and illustrators as well as direct them on art direction execution Skills & Competencies Mastery of industry standard software (Figma/Adobe) Demonstrate a passion to solve problems and tell compelling strategic brand stories that align with the overall business and audience goals Excellent communication and people skills Ability to take direction and constructive criticism, as well as work autonomously Ability to present clear and effective ideas Solid grasp on design principles and practices such as layout, color theory, typography Years of Experience 3-5 working on client branding projects Reporting Structure The position reports to a Creative Director Working Location Zero has physical studio spaces in Brooklyn and Milwaukee. Staff are expected to occasionally work in these locations during the work week. Additional details can be discussed during the interview process. Parametric Design Specialist, Rhino 3D, Grasshopper
