Role Description Design hardware and electrical control systems for industrial automation equipment, including but not limited to: - Conveyor systems - Sortation equipment - Flow-control devices used in parcel, logistics, and e-commerce distribution operations This role sits within their hardware engineering team and is responsible for design only, while other teams handle field installation and commissioning. Projects are substantial in duration, and engineers move from one project to the next as design phases complete. Role Description Bowman has an opportunity for an Electrical Engineer III, PV & BESS to join our team United States remotely. This licensed Professional Electrical Engineer has significant experience with large scale Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) design. Perform all levels of electrical design, electrical studies, and analysis pertaining to Solar PV and BESS projects in coordination with an internal team and various project stakeholders. Responsibilities - Receive broad guidance relating to overall key objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and general parameters for execution. - Independently apply extensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields. - Review work produced by others for quality assurance. - Assist with the marketing of the firm’s capabilities to establish new clients and enhance relationships. - Represent project team in client communications and resolutions. - Lead and participate in the design and development of electrical plan sets, including site layouts and equipment details. - Oversee and supervise contractors and employees who are performing project tasks by providing technical support and guidance during execution. - Perform electrical studies including but not limited to: - Short circuit calculations - Arc flash - Reactive power/load flow - Grounding - Thermal ampacity - Protection device coordination using either ETAP, CYMCAP, WinIGS, or similar software. - Maintain responsibility for complex tasks and designs within project assignments. - Perform final reviews and PE approval for PV and BESS electrical designs. - Lead and participate in design related consulting and PV system modeling. - Lead and enhance plan-set templates, standards, and best practices. - Design equipment layouts, installation details, and single-line diagrams (AC, DC, Auxiliary Power, etc.). - Coordinate with design engineers and collaborate with sub-consultants. - Interface with utilities and coordinate the design of interconnections. - Identify issues on projects and collaborate with the client, co-workers, and others to execute effective solutions. - Interact with team members, clients, vendors, installation contractors, and others to create efficient and cohesive designs. - Generate Single Line Diagrams and interpret requirements for the utility interconnection application processes. - Complete electrical calculations to ensure an optimized and code compliant design. - Report the status of progress on each project to Senior Managers on a weekly or daily basis as needed. - Appropriately request financial, legal and technical support as needed on projects and keep on schedule. - Provide estimates of time to perform tasks. - Apply broad knowledge of engineering principles and procedures. - Oversee designs through project construction/completion. - Communicate effectively with all project stakeholders. - Occasionally conduct field observation visits to accurately document the existing field conditions. - Organize/prioritize multiple tasks to complete the design in a sequential efficient manner. - Accurately produce the project construction documents to meet milestone schedules within a predetermined budget. - Attend coordination and design meetings. - Attend weekly management meetings. - Define and determine project specifications. - Address comments from clients, AHJ’s & other review authorities; adjust designs accordingly. - If directed, review all project related construction administrative items (shop drawings, RFI's, change order proposals). - Work within established project budgets. - Possess and continue to develop a working knowledge of all codes applicable to the discipline. - Possess and continue to develop a working knowledge of AutoCAD software. Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. - Five or more (5+) years of relevant experience. - Professional Engineer (PE) license required. - Utility Scale PV and BESS design experience required. - NABCEP Certification preferred. - High proficiency in AutoCAD preferred. - Medium voltage design and interconnection experience required. - Experience in the power systems industry working on substations, distribution and transmission systems, protection, and controls is highly desirable. - Experience with PV system modeling software is preferred. - High level understanding of National Electrical Code (NEC), National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), IEEE standards, and other applicable codes. - Knowledge of NERC and FERC requirements is highly desirable. - Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner, and to act as a leader of a design team. - Must hold a NCEEES record or be willing to quickly establish one. - Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
