Role Description The Epidemiologist II supports MACDP database management for the National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities (NCBDDD) at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This position provides technical, analytical, and systems support for MACDP database operations and related surveillance and reporting systems. The role supports advanced database management, programming, and data quality assurance for public health surveillance data including replication, data synchronization, query development, dataset creation, and reporting. Responsibilities - Provide information technology (IT) support services for MACDP, which includes programming, development, database entry and management, maintenance, and Quality Assurance/Quality Control. - Update and maintain Database Documentation (e.g., data dictionaries, SOPs) on DBDID’s share drives, as needed. - Perform development, maintenance, and enhancements services for MACDP; database and data table formats include SAS, MS Access, SQL, and COTS products. - Ensure database and system compliance with CDC IT security guidelines and conduct activities in accordance with the Rules of Behavior. - Maintain and modify MACDP data system source code (e.g., Visual Basic (VB), MS Access, and SQL) on the CDC secure shared drive. - Update stored procedures .NET code files on the CDC shared drive. - Assist with the monthly database replication in Microsoft Access employing .NET tools. - Create and update SOP documents describing the operation of the surveillance databases. - Maintain and update Vital Records data in indexed query tool, currently maintained in a Microsoft Access database. - Develop and maintain flat SAS and XML file from the MACDP databases. - Support and maintain SAS code to retrieve and flatten data from relational tables in SQL or Access. - Perform a data query and create data; create flat data files and subset data files monthly. - Provide IT development support of a combined analytic dataset combining data from all the current and former MACDP databases. - Maintain the MACDP CASES file data sets on the CDC server share drive. - Perform data entry and document completion; update or correct case data as needed. - Support users who may have trouble accessing, entering, or viewing surveillance data. - Conduct data queries and generate reports as requested by program staff. - For requested data linkages between MACDP and the other project databases, provide program specifications and identify any advantages, disadvantages, potential problems, and solutions. - Perform monthly quality control checks and data linkages. Qualifications - Applies epidemiologic and biostatistical methods to analyze multi-site surveillance and research data, including ASD and developmental disabilities datasets, using SAS, R, and SQL. - Develops, cleans, and maintains complex datasets; ensures data integrity through validation, quality control protocols, and adherence to data governance standards. - Translates complex analytical results into clear reports, tables, figures, and presentations for scientific, programmatic, and stakeholder audiences. - Works effectively with epidemiologists, researchers, IT staff, and external partners across multiple sites to support study operations, data submissions, and analytic needs. - Identifies data issues and process improvement opportunities, supports IRB and compliance requirements, and contributes to study design, reporting, and evaluation. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Public Health, Data Science, Statistics, Health Informatics, Computer Science, or a related field. - Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant experience in data analysis, public health research, epidemiology, surveillance systems, or health data management. - Experience using SAS, R, SQL, or similar statistical programming languages. Preferred Qualifications - Master's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Data Science, or a related field. - 5–8 years of experience supporting epidemiologic research, multi-site studies, surveillance systems, or federal public health programs. - Experience working with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder research, maternal and child health, or CDC-funded studies. - Experience supporting scientific publications, grant-funded research, and large-scale population-based studies. Role Description Reporting to the Chef or an assigned 1st Cook, a 2nd cook is responsible for supporting kitchen activities in order to maintain an efficient camp for our clients.
