Title: Philanthropy Associate Location: New York, NY, US Full TimeAdmin Requisition ID: 2765 Salary Range:$24.04 To $24.04 Hourly Job Description: Philanthropy Associate To Apply Please apply using our ADP platform and attach your resume, cover letter, and a brief writing sample that demonstrates your ability to communicate effectively with donors or supporters. Examples may include a donor thank-you note, acknowledgment letter, or fundraising appeal. Schedule The working schedule for this position is Monday - Friday, 9AM -5:30PM with Saturday and Sunday off.  Who We Are ACC is one of the nation’s largest open-admission animal shelters, whose mission is to End Animal Homelessness in NYC. We touch the lives of nearly 20,000 animals each year. ACC is more than an animal shelter; we are a resource to the community, always seeking ways to keep the human-animal bond intact. With a 90% placement rate, our progressive, life-saving initiatives contribute to the successful placement of our animals.   We strive to find loving homes for homeless and abandoned cats, dogs, guinea pigs and rabbits, both by adopting animals directly to the public and by partnering with more than 200 dedicated animal placement organizations (our New Hope partners). We also help keep NYC communities safe and rescue animals in need, responding to emergencies that involve animals as well as keeping our doors open 24/7 for people and animals in need.  Summary The Philanthropy Associate plays a hands-on, supportive role on ACC’s Philanthropy team, assisting with a wide range of fundraising activities that support ACC’s mission to end animal homelessness in New York City. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Individual Philanthropy, this position supports donor communications, assists with portfolio management for Philanthropy staff, contributes to prospect research, and helps maintain accurate donor records in Raiser’s Edge, including biographical information. In this role, the Philanthropy Associate helps ensure timely follow-up with donors, supports the preparation of mailings and related materials, and tracks donor engagement to strengthen relationships. The position requires close collaboration with colleagues across the Philanthropy team, as well as strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. By supporting both operational and donor-facing activities, the Philanthropy Associate plays a critical role in helping the Philanthropy team achieve its fundraising goals and build lasting relationships with ACC’s supporters. Required Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree required. - 1–2 years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, nonprofit administration, or a related role required. - Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word, for donor reporting, correspondence, and data management.  - Excellent organizational and time management skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. - Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate professionally and empathetically with donors and community members. Benefits ACC values work/life balance and offers a generous paid-time-off (PTO) package that includes vacation time, birthdays off, personal days and sick pay. We also value physical and mental health by offering a great open access Cigna medical, dental and vision insurance at a low premium to our employees as well as 401K and Pension, Life Insurance. We also have on-the-job training for 2-4 weeks, periodic all staff trainings to include safety, DEI, cross training, and other growth opportunities.   Because ACC is a nonprofit, employees may be eligible for loan forgiveness, cancellation, and/or consolidation under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program (PSLF). Created under the College Cost Reduction and Access Act of 2007, PSLF allows borrowers who work full time for nonprofits and government agencies to have their outstanding debt forgiven tax-free on Federal Direct Loans, after making 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan.  Essential Job Functions: - Monitor and respond to general donor inquiries received via email and phone, providing timely and professional responses. - Prepare and mail donor acknowledgment letters, tribute and memorial cards, and other routine donor correspondence. - Track and document in-kind donations and assist with appropriate acknowledgment and reporting. - Enter actions, contact reports, and donor communications in Raiser’s Edge to support moves management processes. - Support portfolio management for the Philanthropy team including tracking actions, preparing lists, updating records, and supporting follow-up. - Assist with prospect research, including reviewing donor giving history, basic wealth indicators, and publicly available information to support donor engagement. - Assist with drafting donor appeals and fundraising communications, in collaboration with the Philanthropy team. - Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records in Raiser’s Edge, including biographical information, contact details, addresses, relationships, and communication preferences. Other Responsibilities: - Run routine and ad hoc reports to support the Philanthropy team. - Assist with data hygiene efforts, including record updates, duplicate management, and coding accuracy (in coordination with the Manager, Philanthropy Operations). - Provide support for gift processing and gift importing under the direction of the Manager, Philanthropy Operations, as needed. - Assist the Philanthropy team with daily fundraising activities and provide support to team members as needed. - Fear Free certification within 30 days of hire. - Other duties as assigned by the Philanthropy Department. Preferred Qualifications: - Experience working in a nonprofit fundraising environment, particularly in donor relations or annual giving. - Familiarity with donor database systems, such as Raiser’s Edge/NXT or comparable CRM platforms. - Experience with online fundraising, email marketing, or donor communication tools, such as MailChimp or equivalent platforms. - Experience supporting donor stewardship activities, including acknowledgments, appeals, events, or campaign support. - Interest in or commitment to animal welfare and the mission of an animal shelter. - Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends for fundraising events or donor engagement activities. Work Environment This role is hybrid but is based at ACC’s NYC Headquarters, our administrative office at 11 Park Place in lower Manhattan, with an expectation to be in the office 2 days per week or as needed. The position also requires willingness to travel to ACC’s five Animal Care Centers across the five boroughs, as well as to fundraising and media events. Because ACC houses hundreds of animals across its facilities at any given time, visits to our Care Centers involve exposure to fur, odors, and other airborne particles. ACC offers many low-cost services to pets and people in need. This includes compassionate end-of-life services for people who cannot afford to go to a private veterinary office but still want to provide a professional and peaceful transition for their beloved pet.  Reports To: Senior Manager, Individual Philanthropy
