This position will be headquartered along the Fox River in downtown Waukesha at 141 NW Barstow Street. This position offers a hybridized work schedule. The position will be headquartered at and required to work from the Waukesha State Office Building at least 2 days per week. All employees working a hybrid work schedule are generally expected to telework from within the State of Wisconsin. This topic will be discussed more at the time of the interview. Responsibilities of the position include providing research, analysis, consultation, and coordination services to WisDOT staff and management on environmental laws and regulations. Assist the SE Region operating units, project teams, and consultants in development, implementation, and documentation of environmental processes under provisions of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), the Wisconsin Environmental Policy Act (WEPA), and the Department’s environmental operational policies, guidelines, and procedures. The position will support and assist regional project teams in identifying and completing the necessary environmental tasks of their projects. Analyze, evaluate, and document the impacts of WisDOT plans, programs and projects on the environment. Assist in maintaining the environmental program’s document inventory system for managing and tracking WisDOT environmental documents. Assist with the updating of environmental chapters of the Facilities Development Manual and other WisDOT policy and guidance documents. Assist in the development and maintenance of computer records and databases related to WisDOT’s environmental program and projects. The objective level of this position is the Environmental Analysis and Review Specialist (EARS) Advanced after performing advanced level work for one year. Salary Information This position is in schedule-range (15-04) with an annual salary of $58,240-$68,640, plus excellent benefits. A twelve month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan. Job Details This state agency does not sponsor work visas. Qualifications A qualified candidate will have training, education and/or experience in the following: - Reading and/or understanding environmental laws, rules, policies and/or procedures - Analyzing, evaluating, or documenting environmental areas of concern (wetlands, hazardous materials, archaeological and historical investigations, threatened and endangered species, natural systems, etc.) - Working as a member of a team – which may include project or committee work A more than qualified candidate will have all the above as well as training, education and/or experience in the following: - Reading and interpreting highway plans, maps, and exhibits - Preparing environmental documents in accordance with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and Wisconsin Environmental Policy Acts (WEPA) regulations - Preparing and/or analyzing environmental documents for accuracy - Communicating technical information with internal and external stakeholders
