Web Engineer II – Apply & Buy Digital Apps
Synchrony
• Development and support of Web based digital applications and delivering high-quality solutions • Build new web solutions/platforms and enhancements, working closely with requirements analysts, testers, and the customer in an agile development practice • Develop functional and technical specifications from business requirements • Responsible for the development of mission critical web applications/services • Help create project estimates and plans • Represent engineering team in project meetings and solution discussions • Ensure application quality and adherence to performance requirements • Responsible for documentation, code reuse, re-factoring and design patterns standards compliance • Ensure of internally developed applications are built with high standards of availability, scalability, and extensibility • Work closely with an experienced staff comprising both Synchrony resources and vendor technical engineers • Help define measurable goals for the team • Communicate the status of build projects and other initiatives to stakeholders and leadership • Keep abreast of emerging technologies while maintaining proficiency in existing technologies
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent practical experience) with 2+ years of modern web application development experience or in lieu of a degree 4 + years of modern web application development experience
- 2+ years of hands-on experience building user-facing applications using React JS (including hooks, component design, state management, routing)
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+), TypeScript (preferred), HTML5, and CSS3 (responsive design, accessibility fundamentals)
- Knowledge on state management strategy for enterprise platform/micro front ends that optimize network efficiency and performance
- Experience integrating front-end applications with RESTful APIs; basic understanding of authentication/authorization flows (e.g., OAuth/JWT)
- Familiarity with testing practices and tools such as Jest, React Testing Library, and/or Cypress (preferred)
- Exposure to Micro-Frontends is a plus
- Exposure to AWS and cloud-hosted web apps is an added advantage
- Ability to work with or understand CI/CD tools and version control workflows (Git, branching, pull requests)
- Basic understanding of SQL/NoSQL concepts is a plus
- Good understanding of SDLC processes (Agile) and release practices
