Financial Analyst

Role Description We operate in the disaster care and property insurance claims sector, where tight billing windows, multi-job cost control, and accurate financial reporting are non-negotiable. This role owns the numbers end to end, from subcontractor invoice verification through to monthly management accounts and cash flow forecasting. We need someone who understands the story behind the figures and gives leadership the clarity to act on them. This role exists to: - Ensure invoices from subcontractors and suppliers are checked, coded, and processed correctly - Track costs at a per-job and company-wide level so we always know our margins - Produce timely management accounts and cash flow reports that allow the directors to make informed decisions - Safeguard our cash position by managing our debtor and creditor ledgers — including our 22-day billing window with insurers Invoice management and cost control - Review and verify subcontractor and supplier invoices for accuracy, coding, and authorisation before payment - Match invoices to job records and flag any discrepancies or unexplained cost variances - Maintain a real-time view of committed costs and actual spend per job/claim - Prepare and submit invoices to insurer clients, ensuring all submissions are within the agreed payment window Management reporting - Produce monthly profit and loss accounts and a rolling cash flow forecast - Prepare a weekly aged debtor and aged creditor summary - Provide a cost-per-claim analysis to help the directors understand profitability by job type - Highlight financial risks or anomalies proactively — do not wait to be asked Financial controls and compliance - Maintain accurate records in line with HMRC and Companies House requirements - Support the year-end process and liaise with external accountants as required - Ensure all financial processes comply with GDPR and company data handling policies - Recommend improvements to existing financial processes and controls where gaps are identified Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field - 3–5 years’ experience in a financial analyst or management accountant role - Strong experience with financial modelling, budgeting, and forecasting - Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, lookups, and complex formulas - Solid understanding of P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements - Practical experience supporting month-end close processes - Strong understanding of job costing or project-based accounting - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Ability to work independently with minimal supervision - Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills - Comfortable in a fast-moving, growing business where processes are still being built Requirements - Professional qualification: CMA (Certified Management Accountant), CPA, CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent - Experience in the insurance, construction, remediation, or property services sector - Familiarity with cloud-based accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, or similar) - Experience supporting a business through rapid growth or operational change - Previous experience as a fractional or portfolio finance professional What success looks like - Established a recurring monthly reporting pack (P&L, cash flow, aged debtors/creditors) - Implemented a job-level cost tracking process - Identified at least one area where a process improvement could reduce financial risk
