Role Description As a Senior Backend Engineer on the Digital Engineering team, you will play a critical role in building and evolving the technology that powers Vuori’s rapidly growing Ecommerce platform. You will design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and integrations, collaborating closely with cross-functional partners to deliver reliable, high-quality customer experiences. This is a hands-on engineering role with the opportunity to influence architecture, mentor teammates, and shape the technical direction of the team. We’re looking for someone who brings curiosity, a strong sense of ownership, and a genuine desire to keep getting better, both individually and as a team. - Design and develop secure, performant, and scalable applications that power Vuori’s ecommerce platform. - Collaborate with front-end engineers, product managers, and infrastructure architects to deliver reliable services and customer experiences. - Build and maintain integrations with third-party APIs, including Shopify, Algolia, and content management systems. - Optimize application performance through caching strategies, query optimization, and efficient data access patterns. - Uphold code quality through thorough reviews, comprehensive test coverage, and well-defined standards and design patterns. - Implement error handling, dashboards, and alerts for production monitoring. Participate in on-call rotations and incident responses. - Stay current in emerging technologies and influence architectural decisions. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent years of experience preferred. - 5+ years of professional back-end development experience. - Expert proficiency in TypeScript, Node.js, and modern JavaScript (ES6+), or a comparable modern language (e.g., Python). - Strong understanding of REST and GraphQL. - Experience with Azure Functions or AWS Lambda for serverless architectures. - Proficiency with PostgreSQL or other relational databases, including schema design, query optimization, and migrations. - Strong experience with testing frameworks (Jest) and test-driven development practices. - Solid understanding of authentication and authorization patterns (JWT, OAuth, API keys). - Proficiency with GitHub or Bitbucket, including PR workflows, YAML-based CI/CD pipelines, and version control. - Experience with observability platforms (New Relic, Sentry, Azure Application Insights), including alerting and dashboards. - Understanding front-end technologies (especially React) and ability to collaborate effectively with front-end engineers. - Strong communication skills; able to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical partners. • Lead end-to-end database migration initiatives, including assessment, planning, schema conversion, execution, and post-migration validation. • Design, configure, and manage AWS DMS and SCT environments while ensuring migration quality, performance, and reliability. • Author comprehensive migration runbooks that define execution procedures, validation checkpoints, rollback plans, and operational readiness activities. • Perform database migration assessments, dependency analysis, compatibility reviews, and migration strategy recommendations. • Collaborate with infrastructure, application, security, and platform teams to ensure successful migration outcomes. • Drive migration testing activities, including functional validation, performance testing, failover testing, and production readiness reviews. • Provide technical leadership and guidance to migration teams while ensuring adherence to AWS migration best practices and governance standards. • Lead conversion and refactoring of procedural database code — Oracle PL/SQL (packages, procedures, functions, triggers, cursors) and SQL Server T-SQL (stored procedures, functions, triggers) — into PostgreSQL/Aurora PostgreSQL PL/pgSQL, resolving semantic and behavioral differences identified by SCT.

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services for our AI Payments Intelligence platform. • Develop data pipelines, ETL processes, and cloud-native infrastructure that process large volumes of payment transaction data. • Build the backend services that power analytics, dashboards, AI-driven insights, and customer-facing reporting. • Collaborate with enterprise customers to integrate payment data from PSPs, acquirers, and other external systems. • Develop secure, reliable APIs and integration services for payment gateways, reporting APIs, webhooks, and other data sources. • Optimize backend systems for performance, scalability, security, and high availability. • Partner with Product, Data Science, and Engineering teams to design new platform capabilities and contribute to architectural decisions. • Stay current with emerging technologies and contribute to engineering best practices across the platform.
