Associate Benefits Ops Analyst

Role Description The Associate Benefits Operations Analyst is responsible for the successful implementation of small group employee benefit plans (generally under 250 covered lives) across Life, AD&D, Disability, Absence Management, and Supplemental Health products. This position manages the implementation process from point of sale through contract issuance, billing readiness, and customer onboarding while serving as the primary operational contact for customers, brokers, and internal business partners. This role will initially support a 10-month Dearborn-to-Symetra migration project, partnering across multiple operational areas to ensure a successful customer transition. Upon completion of migration, the position is expected to transition into a permanent implementation role supporting ongoing new business onboarding. Additional hours may be required during critical migration milestones. What You Will Do - Manage end-to-end implementation of small group employee benefit plans. - Support all phases of the Dearborn-to-Symetra migration project. - Coordinate implementation activities with Underwriting, Contracts, Billing, Claims, Compliance, IT, and Customer Service. - Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, brokers, consultants, and internal stakeholders. - Monitor implementation timelines and ensure projects are completed accurately and on schedule. - Research, resolve, and escalate implementation issues as appropriate. - Review contracts and plan documents for accuracy and compliance. - Coordinate eligibility file setup and testing with customers and IT partners. - Prepare onboarding materials, implementation documentation, and customer communications. - Maintain implementation records, provide project status updates, and participate in process improvement initiatives. - Prepare and maintain accurate customer implementation materials, onboarding documentation, regular project status, updates to leadership and educational resources. Qualifications - Strong leader with project management skills. - Excellent oral/written communicator, passionate about customer service, and interpersonal relationships. - Organized with strong planning and prioritization tools. - Detail oriented with a high level of accuracy. - Eager to learn and apply a complex set of rules and guides. - Ability to multi-task and deliver results in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment. - Self-motivated and initiative driven. - Knowledgeable of Microsoft Suite applications, specifically Word, Excel, and Access. - Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Finance or three to five years of equivalent experience in a dynamic environment in workforce benefits and/or medical insurance. Requirements - Employer work visa sponsorship and support are not provided for this role. - Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at hire and must maintain authorization to work in the United States throughout their employment with our company. This person also uses their expertise to identify ancillary product trends and deliver AR/AP reporting. - Review and organize litigation responses. - Work with various Operations teams to ensure bill review accuracy, defend Rising repricing strategies and updating processes as needed. - Appear as an expert witness on an as needed basis for litigated cases, hearings, depositions and fee coder affidavits. - Drive innovation with bill review repricing strategies ensuring workflow creation and proper documentation. - Drive specialty bill review repricing strategies and product development including but not limited to Rising Fair and Reasonable network reductions, Second Look, Rising Guarantee program etc. - Accurately and appropriately analyze specialty bill review bills, large medical bills and make payment recommendations based on claim history, medical notes, usual and customary rates (UCR), state laws and fee schedules, available PPO contracts, coding guidelines, client instructions, and company policies and procedures. - Maximize productivity through proficient use of various software programs and reference tools, including Vision, Smart Advisor, Excel, Internet, and company-developed applications. - Communicate with medical providers to obtain needed information and resolve bill-specific issues. - Communicate directly with clients, offering them world-class customer service by responding to and answering their questions quickly and professionally. - Participate in ongoing training to enhance job skills and knowledge. - Mentor and train less-experienced Auditors. - Special projects as assigned by management. Qualifications - High School Diploma required, Associate or Bachelor Degree preferred. - CPC (Certified Professional Coding) coursework or certification a big plus. - CPC certification required within two years of assuming the position. - Minimum one to three years of medical bill review/auditing and/or medical bill negotiation, or equivalent combination of education and experience. - Other medical/health care/insurance industry experience a plus. - Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, medical reports, state laws and fee schedules, and CPT codes. - Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from peers, clients, and providers.
