Principal Structural Engineer

• Lead structural design efforts from conceptual development through final design, ensuring alignment with project goals and requirements set by project managers. • Develop structural specifications and data sheets for packaged equipment based on project scope. • Prepare and manage Requests for Qualifications (RFQs), technical bid evaluations, and make informed purchase recommendations. • Review and analyze structural vendor drawings to ensure compliance with project specifications. • Coordinate and communicate technical information between suppliers, clients, and cross-disciplinary engineering teams. • Collaborate with detailers and designers to ensure accurate interpretation and implementation of structural designs. • Conduct quality reviews of production drawings across various projects to ensure accuracy and adherence to standards. • Verify and implement required corrections using multiple CAD platforms, ensuring design integrity and consistency.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering with structural emphasis
- Minimum 3 years’ experience, working in a similar firm preferred – EPC Project experience is preferred
- Ability to prepare structural calculation sheets, detailed construction drawings, and corresponding AutoCAD files, including markups and coordination using Bluebeam.
- Proficiency with structural analysis and design software such as RISA Foundation, RISA-3D, SAP, and familiarity with geotechnical/structural software (e.g., LPILE or similar)
- A Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE) license is preferred but not required.
- Working knowledge of structural design codes (e.g., IBC, AISC, ACI, ASCE7).

Role Description GFT is seeking a Senior Project Geotechnical Engineer - Project Manager to join our team in Texas! This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at Houston, Austin, San Antonio, El Paso, McAllen, Fort Worth, Dallas, or anywhere else in Texas! This can be a REMOTE opportunity depending on location. What you’ll be challenged to do: - Provide technical input and oversight on large, complex projects. - Evaluate slope stability and develop recommendations for linear infrastructure projects specifically with TXDOT. - General geotechnical engineering on hydropower facilities including penstocks, diversion dams, pipelines, headworks, gate structures, canals, flumes, levees, and siphons. - Geotechnical analysis for remediation of landslides and geologic hazards.
