IMERT Training Instructor – Pool

Mercyhealth Wisconsin and Illinois

• Provides education and training to all disciplines of emergency care providers. • Takes a leadership role in course development through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of classroom, laboratory, clinical and on-line instruction. • Demonstrates attributes of a professional educator: Self-motivated, effective communicator, effective time manager, team player, organized, knowledgeable, prepared, confident, respectful, student advocate. • Responsible for EMT, AEMT, Paramedic and/or AHA Course development using the guidelines and curriculum outlined by state and/or the appropriate national agencies. • Engages the learner and provides well-timed and effective feedback. • Provides mentorship and/or supervision to the novice instructor. • Instructs in at least one of the American Heart Association Classes (BLS, ACLS, PALS). • Teaches at varied times and places using varied formats based on student demand: Day or evening, main campus, mobile Sim lab or on site of students' employment.

Job Requirements

  • Graduation from a University or Community College with a degree or certificate in an Emergency Care discipline (i.e.: EMT, AEMT, Paramedic, RN, PA, DO, MD, Law Enforcement)
  • If RN, BSN preferred or enrolled in BSN program.
  • Two years of experience providing Emergency Care in ones State of Wisconsin Licensed level.
  • Required certification applicable to training assigned (i.e. State of Wisconsin or Illinois Licensed Emergency Care Provider, or other applicable certification, such as EMT, AEMT, Paramedic, RN, PA, DO or MD)
  • State of Wisconsin or Illinois Certified EMS Instructor II or working toward completion preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) required within three (3) months.
  • Certified American Heart Association Instructor in at least one level (BLS, ACLS, PALS) within 1 year.

Role Description The Massachusetts Impaired Driver (MID) Instructor provides group and/or individual clinical services to patients mandated by Court or RMV to complete the driver alcohol education program. The MID Instructor completes initial adult comprehensive assessments for program admission, mid-point evaluations, and exit interviews for each participant. Additionally, the instructor participates in ongoing curriculum development and provides documentation and consultation with probation officers, courts, and the Department of Motor Vehicles. The MID Program is a 16-week educational program for individuals with a first DUI conviction. Participation is court-mandated, requiring attendance at sixteen 2-hour group sessions, a mid-point interview, and an exit interview. Schedule: Fully remote / hours will be flexible Payrate: $25 - $30 per hour, dependent on degree and licensure Qualifications - Bachelor’s or master's degree in social work, psychology, or a related field OR independent licensure. - Experience and proficiency in substance use disorder treatment and recovery, including knowledge of addiction services and local resources. - Bilingual in Spanish and English, preferred.
