Role Description We're building a Content Intelligence (CI) pipeline - an AI-powered system that classifies articles, extracts entity references, and feeds a curated canonical database that our downstream products depend on. The Data Curation Lead owns the quality and integrity of that database. This is not an engineering role. You won't be building the pipeline. You'll be working with it - shaping the taxonomies and controlled vocabularies it classifies against, managing the curator workspace where extracted entities become managed records, and using AI tools to do that work better, faster, and at greater scale than any manual process could. The pipeline produces raw material. You turn it into something clean, structured, and trustworthy. You'll report to the Head of Product and work very closely with the CEO, who brings deep subject matter expertise in legal content intelligence and will be a hands-on collaborator on this work - particularly on taxonomy design, classification logic, and how the data ultimately serves clients. Qualifications - 3-6 years experience in a role that involved hands-on data work. - A genuine feel for taxonomy, classification, and structured data. - Hands-on experience working with data - connecting it, cleaning it, structuring it, making it useful. - Self-direction - you identify problems worth solving and get on with it without waiting for a brief. - An eye for quality - you notice when something is off and you care enough to fix it. - Comfort working in a technical environment. - Strong problem-solving instinct. - Comfortable working with new tools and technologies. - Clear communicator - able to talk to multiple stakeholders. - The right to live and work in the UK. Requirements - Experience in legal, professional services, or publishing (preferred but not essential). - Commercial instinct - understanding the business value of what you're producing (preferred but not essential). - Familiarity with knowledge graph concepts, ontologies, or information architecture (preferred but not essential). - Experience with legal entity data (law firms, corporations, deal structures) (preferred but not essential). Benefits - Real ownership of a new product area. - A direct line to the Head of Product & CEO and genuine influence over what gets built and how. - Room to grow within the role. - Work that is visible - in a small team, what you do shows up directly in the product and in client outcomes. - A technically interesting problem at the intersection of structured data, AI-assisted curation, and legal professional services. - Fully remote working (UK). - Salary £55,000 - £60,000 depending on experience. Why This Role Matters The CI pipeline is Vable's strategic foundation. Everything we're building for clients depends on the quality of the data that comes out of it. The Data Curation Lead is the person who ensures that data is trustworthy. You'll be writing the playbook, jumping into multi-source datasets, diagnosing where quality breaks down, and building the curation workflows that fix it - on your own initiative. If you're the kind of person who gets genuinely interested in why a classification is wrong, who reaches for an AI tool before asking for help, and who finds satisfaction in turning messy data into something clean and useful - we'd like to talk to you. Ready to Apply? Submit your CV, cover letter and answer the application questions. The process runs over 2–3 weeks and includes an intro call with the People team, various other interviews. We record recruitment calls with your permission to ensure fairness across our remote team. We hire based on skills, potential and passion, and are an equal opportunities employer.
