Title: Intermediated Strata Underwriting Practice Lead Location: Melbourne Australia Job Description: - Permanent full-time position - Sydney, Brisbane or Melbourne CBD locations - Flexible working and hybrid work environment - Lead a team of highly engaged and motivated underwriting specialists The crucial role of Intermediated Strata UW Lead is responsible for the underwriting execution and financial performance of the Intermediated Strata product. This role also involves managing the national Intermediated Strata underwriting team to ensure key financial targets are achieved to drive profitable growth and increase market share. What you'll do: - Develop, deliver and execute a cohesive UW plan and service/value proposition to our intermediaries through the execution of the Intermediated Strata product strategy - Emphasize solution-oriented underwriting by excelling in customer service fundamentals, standardizing underwriting practices across the national team, setting clear expectations for service levels (e.g. turnaround times, submission acknowledgement, accessibility and responsiveness, etc), and implementing processes to accurately evaluate and manage opportunities - Deliver, and continually improve (in consultation with the Intermediated Strata portfolio manager), the Intermediated Strata product strategies (including but not limited to, target markets/key brokers, product differentiation, appetite, UW execution strategy, risk engineering, reinsurance, technology, etc) - Day to day operational underwriting functions within the national Intermediated Strata team through the underwriting and negotiating of individual policy renewals, new business and mid-term policy adjustments - Work closely with Distribution to build VSL/Intermediated Strata market awareness and strengthen broker relationships to ensure a seamless experience for our intermediaries and mutual clients. What you'll bring: - Minimum 10 years commercial underwriting experience in Intermediated Strata insurance and ability to demonstrate strong technical product knowledge - Proven experience in leading, managing and developing national underwriting teams - Strong understanding of intermediary markets (including broker relationships), underwriting principles, and insurance products - Demonstrated ability to meet budgeted GWP and profitability targets, whilst adhering to required risk and governance processes.
