Job Description

Insurance Verification Specialist – Biologic, Immunotherapy

Family Allergy & Asthma

• Verify patient insurance eligibility, coverage, benefits, deductibles, copayments and coinsurance • Contact insurance companies via phone, online portals or electronic verification systems to obtain accurate coverage information • Confirm prior authorization and referral requirements for scheduled services and procedures • Update patient insurance information in electronic medical records (EMR) • Answer incoming calls from internal clinic offices in a professional manner • Identify and resolve discrepancies in insurance information before services are rendered • Maintain detailed documentation of verification activities and communications • Work closely with scheduling, billing, coding and clinical teams • Follow HIPPA guidelines and maintain patient confidentiality • Stay current on insurance policies, payer requirements and regulatory changes as provided by credentialing team • Other duties as assigned by the Revenue Cycle Operation Senior Manager.

Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of related experience in insurance verification, medical billing, healthcare administration, or related field
  • Knowledge of commercial insurance, Medicare, Medicaid and Managed care plans
  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems and medical billing software
  • Strong attention to detail and organization skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office suite, including excel and outlook.
