A Consumer Underwriter – Auto Finance evaluates, negotiates, and decisions consumer offerings within Ally’s underwriting policies to further grow application and contract volume. They build and maintain a portfolio of dealers and provide best-in-class relationship management for their assigned territories as a crucial part of the Ally Auto framework. The Work Itself - Increase dealer portfolio revenue by practicing sound underwriting judgment and upholding Ally’s risk management principles - Leverage high-touch and high-tech capabilities to negotiate contracts - Demonstrate market awareness, strong listening, and adaptability as you build and cultivate strong relationships with dealers - Requires flexibility in work schedule; evening hours, limited travel, and weekends required The Skills You Bring Minimum Qualifications - 0+ years of experience - High school Diploma or GED equivalent Preferred Qualifications - High school/GED is required; bachelor’s degree is preferred - 1+ years in auto finance consumer underwriting (prime, sub-prime, and/or non-prime), or financial services is preferred - Ability to perform technical based activities - Knowledge of and exposure to fundamental theories, principles, and concepts - Demonstrating technical expertise and relationships to supply to strategy and drive business results - Familiar with the Auto Finance industry, consumer credit, trend analysis/analytics - Excellent sales, negotiation, problem solving, and analytical skills - Must be an independent worker with strong time leadership skills How We'll Have Your Back Ally's compensation program offers market-competitive base pay and pay-for-performance incentives (bonuses) based on achieving personal and company goals. • Reviews for acceptance or denial, assigned life applications with face amounts up to $1,000,000 fully underwritten • Determines and assures that appropriate information necessary to fulfill underwriting requirements has been requested such as; re-examinations, special exams, medical reports, database research, investigations and laboratory studies • Strong production life underwriting experience • Comfort with complex casework • Ability to review and interpret medical records/APSs • Strong technical underwriting knowledge and judgment • Experience working directly with agents and applicants • Efficient but thoughtful evidence gathering (not ordering unnecessary requirements) • Interprets MIB codes, and prepares data and reports to the Medical Information Bureau, which involves knowledge of MIB code meanings and procedures. • Provide support for contract change and reinstatement underwriting that may be required. • Prepares presentations for underwriters or sales agents that assist with training and development.
