Job Description

Director of Multimedia Content

Carey & Co., LLC

Role Description The Vasculitis Foundation (VF) is seeking a creative, forward-thinking Director of Multimedia Content to lead and evolve our multimedia content strategy across all channels and audiences. This is a unique opportunity to shape a new role, bringing fresh vision to a robust webinar program, launching new content formats like podcasts and short-form video, and building a cross-platform multimedia strategy that reflects how our patients, clinicians, and broader community learn and connect. This role is designed to attract professionals with experience in video, podcast, webinar production, and digital content strategy. Sitting within the VF’s Education team and reporting to the Chief Program Officer, this role works cross-functionally with Marketing & Communications and Development. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable producing a 35-minute medical education webinar or 90-second social media clip, and understands how to reach vasculitis patients, physicians, researchers, and donors through the same platform ecosystem. Key Responsibilities - Multimedia Strategy & Program Development: - Develop and lead VF’s multimedia content strategy, encompassing webinars, podcasts, short-form video, social media content, and emerging formats. - Demonstrate excellence in project management by establishing clear workflows, setting realistic timelines, and keeping projects on track. - Collect and analyze audience feedback, demographics, engagement metrics, and content performance data to evaluate impact, optimize reach, and inform multimedia content, platform, and format decisions across VF's diverse stakeholder audiences. - Track emerging digital trends, platforms, and technologies and bring forward-looking recommendations to leadership. - Collaborate with the team to develop audience surveys and feedback mechanisms to continually evaluate and refine VF’s multimedia approach. - Contribute to VF’s evolving organizational philosophy around AI as it applies to content creation, distribution, and digital engagement. - Webinar Program: - Oversee the end-to-end production of VF’s webinar program, from topic development and speaker coordination through recording, editing, distribution and tracking key metrics. - Manage webinar platforms and associated tools, ensuring a seamless experience for both presenters and registrants. - Develop partnerships with physicians, medical specialists, patient advocates, and other subject matter experts to develop relevant, high-quality educational content. - Content Production & Editing: - Oversee and contribute to the production and video editing of content across formats, from full-length educational recordings to short awareness snippets and social media assets. - Develop and produce VF’s podcast program from concept to distribution: format development, booking, recording, editing, and publishing. - Develop, produce, and oversee short-form multimedia content that drives engagement and brand awareness (e.g., viral videos, conference highlights, campaign support videos, impact messaging). - Manage digital asset storage and organization across platforms, ensuring content is accessible, well-archived, and consistently maintained. - Collaborate with VF’s contract videographers on in-person event coverage; cultivate and manage vendor relationships as needed. - Cross-Functional Collaboration: - Partner with Marketing & Communications and Development teams to produce multimedia content that supports organizational priorities, from patient education and clinical outreach to fundraising campaigns and donor engagement. - Support development campaign videos, awareness content, and other multimedia assets across departments. - Ensure organizational photography and visual assets (headshots, event photos, conference coverage) are captured, organized, and accessible. - Bring a collaborative, low-ego approach to cross-functional work, influencing without direct authority and keeping stakeholders aligned and on schedule. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Digital Media, Film/Video Production, Marketing, or a related field. - 5+ years of experience in multimedia production, with demonstrated experience producing webinars, podcasts, and video content end-to-end. - Proficiency in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or equivalent) and comfort across the full post-production workflow. - Experience with webinar platforms and production tools (e.g., Zoom Webinars, Riverside, StreamYard, or similar). - Working knowledge of major social media platforms and how to tailor content for different audiences and channels. - Portfolio or work samples demonstrating a range of multimedia production (webinars, podcasts, social content, video). - Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, work independently, and meet competing deadlines in a remote environment. - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with prior experience building relationships across teams and engaging professionally with physicians, patients, and external partners. - Experience working with or managing contract vendors, including videographers and editors. - Familiarity with analytics tools and a track record of using data to shape content strategy. - Familiarity with AI tools as they relate to content creation, and openness to their evolving role in multimedia production. - Willingness to travel for VF events, patient conferences, and related activities (approximately 3–5 times per year, with occasional international travel). - Commitment to equity, inclusion, and creating content that is accessible and representative of VF’s diverse community. - Ability to work independently and manage workload with minimal direction in a fully remote environment. Benefits - A collaborative, mission-driven team culture with a genuine commitment to work-life balance. - Core collaboration hours of 10am–3pm CST, with flexibility in start and end times. - A fully remote work environment, with travel for conferences and related events. - Robust professional development support, including a formal annual review process and individualized development planning. - Generous Paid Time Off (PTO). - Employer-sponsored health insurance: the Foundation covers 85% of the employee premium (dependent coverage available at full cost); optional dental and vision coverage. - 403(b) retirement plan with 5% employer match after six months. - Generous family leave. Work Environment The Vasculitis Foundation is a fully remote organization. This position requires effective performance in a home office, regular collaboration with team members across time zones through virtual communication tools, and travel to conferences, patient events, and VF-related activities. Candidates based in Central or Mountain time zones are strongly preferred. Equal Opportunity The Vasculitis Foundation is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. Role Description This is not a traditional Strategy role. You'll lead YouTube strategy for one of the world's fastest-growing content creation platforms as we build their channel into a core hub of content. This is a high-profile engagement focused on creator-first programming, product education, and long-form content. The engagement is initially scoped through the summer content window, with strong potential to extend into future quarters as the channel scales. You are a YouTube native. You've built channels and grown audiences, and you understand the platform from the inside out. You know how the algorithm rewards content, what drives watch time and retention, how packaging and publishing cadence move the needle, and what separates content that performs from content that doesn't. You pair that platform fluency with genuine creative instincts for what makes long-form content worth watching. You are comfortable in the gray. You bring structure where it's needed, push when it matters, and stay close enough to the work to keep the quality bar high. You are energized by the intersection of creators, content, education, and product storytelling, and you know how compelling long-form content builds both audience engagement and brand affinity. Location: Remote. Proximity to the internal team in Los Angeles is a plus. There is no expectation to work from a physical office, though candidates who prefer a hybrid or in-office environment are welcome. This position is estimated at up to 20 hours per week, starting as soon as possible and will go through September 30, 2026 with a potential to extend. What You'll Own - YouTube Strategy & Content Approach - Define the channel architecture — how the channel is organized, what content pillars it's built on, and how it grows over time. - Develop the approach for the core content systems: an educational/tutorial system, a creator-led long-form approach, and a creator showcase approach. - Set packaging and publishing recommendations — titles, thumbnails, descriptions, playlists, cadence, and rollout — grounded in what the platform rewards. - Build the rollout plan across the content window, with a view toward future quarters. - Review briefs and source materials, and lead workshops and working sessions to align the team and client. - Content Development & Execution - Lead concepting and development of tutorial content — topic refinement, episode framing, recommended formats, scripting, and edit direction for long-form 16:9 episodes. - Lead creator content concepting for long-form creator episodes — story outlines, script and episode structure, edit guidance, and creative visual inputs. - Own creator showcase packaging — titles, thumbnail direction, descriptions, playlist placement, and creator crediting. - Carry concepts through multiple internal and client review rounds, keeping quality high and feedback moving. - Collaboration & Operating Rhythm - Partner closely with the account lead, project management, creative, and production to translate strategy into work that ships. - Participate in a standing weekly client status meeting (5:30–6:30pm PT) and an internal scrum, supplemented by ad hoc working sessions and written communication through the client's preferred platforms. - Surface risks and opportunities early, and bring solutions, not just flags. - Navigate ambiguity with confidence in an environment where direction evolves and strong translation into execution matters. Qualifications - A demonstrated track record of building and growing YouTube channels — you can point to channels and audiences you've helped grow. - Deep, current knowledge of the YouTube platform: how the algorithm works, what drives discovery, watch time, and retention, and what works versus what doesn't. - Command of both the mechanics (packaging, thumbnails, titles, publishing cadence, analytics) and the content approach (formats, storytelling, and editorial that holds an audience). - Experience developing long-form content and/or creator-led programs, ideally including educational or tutorial content. - Strong concepting and editorial instincts, with the ability to give clear edit and format direction. - Clear, confident communication across presentations, written communication, and client conversations. - Comfort in fast-moving environments where priorities evolve and ambiguity is part of the process. - Experience working with global stakeholders across time zones and navigating cross-cultural working relationships is a plus. What makes someone successful here - You lean in, not back. You don't wait for direction, you create it. - You care about the work, not just the process, and stay close enough to elevate it. - You can zoom out to see the bigger picture, and zoom in to fix what's broken. - You build real relationships, internally and externally. - You know how to balance being strategic, scrappy, and steady all at once. Compensation - Role Type: Temporary, part-time estimated at up to 20 hours per week - Hourly Rate: $100 / hour based on experience - Payroll: This is a W2 position only; all compensation will be processed through space150 payroll. Benefits - 401(k) Participation: Access to our 401(k) retirement plan, including a company match - Statutory Benefits: Eligibility for all legally mandated benefits as required by law.
